Intel S1200BTL server board with beep sequence 1-5-4-2

Hey there!
I built a server with an Intel S1200BTL server board, a 500W beQuiet power supply, an Intel E3-1220L and 16GB of DDR3 ECC RAM.

Now when I try and boot the server nothing happens for maybe 30 seconds (no fans spinning, just some LED flickering) and then the beep sequence 1-5-4-2 appears.

I already tried different power supplies but this doesn't change anything.

Anybody got an idea what the problem might be?

Thanks!

S2600CP keeps rebooting before post

I have a S2600CP with 2 e5-2670. when I received the motherboard, I booted it to check CPU and RAM and worked fine.

Now, 2 weeks later as I'm assembling the server, the motherboard powers on for a second, then powers off(all fans spin for a second), if left untouched it will sporadically try too boot for a second and shut off(in a loop).

I tried to remove CPUs and RAM and it beeps as expected complaining for the CPU.

I removed the motherboard from the chassis.

With a single CPU it behaves the same way, same with just one or two sticks of RAM.

I tried a different power supply with the same result.

I changed the CMOS battery and reset the BIOS.

If I power up with the BIOS jumper set to "reset to defaut" and then boot, it beeps with 1-5-4-2 that is DC power loss.

All the  PSU I have tested are 850W.

Any idea?

thank you for your time

noticed that 6-Drive Hot-Swap Non-expanded Kit AXX6DRV3GR fully supported with Intel raid controller PS2P1008 which is equivalent to LSI 9280-8E (except maybe firmware difference)

Therefore i would like to ask if it is possible to swap  between an Itel controller PS2P1008 and LSI 9280-8E to achieve the same perforamce?

Expecting reply the soonest

Jbod with S3420GPLC on board raid?

$

I have a client running Windows Server 2008 on an S3420GPLC system board with two 150G WD Raptor drives in RAID1

using the embedded RAID controller setting in BIOS. .

The client is running ACT 2012 CRM and lately the performance is very slow.

I'd like to add an SSD drive to the system so that it comes up as D:  and is not a part of any RAID. I plan to move the ACT

indices folder (contains index files for the ACT application running SQL server express 2008)  to the SSD D: drive to try to improve ACT performance.

Can I connect the SSD to the on-board controller and get this working?  If not, what do I need to add SSD connection via PCI slot?

Intel SS4200-e Power button flashing blue (Newbie)

Hi everyone,

Before I start, this is my first NAS system and first experience with them. Please bear with my ignorance.

So, I bought a used Intel SS4200-e because it sounded good. I wanted at least 4 bays for 8TB totals and set them up as RAID 1.
The previous owner upgraded it to a e4500 core2 dual processor from "original Celeron set-up" (I don't even know what that is or if it's relevant) and also upgraded the ram to 2GBs.
It apparently came with Freenas on a USB that he said must stay in port one. That's all it came with though. It didn't come with the original install disk, so I searched for what I think it is and downloaded it (Intel Entry Storage System en-1.1.11.32736).

I ran that but I get the error:

"Sorry. Please confirm that all cables have been properly connected, your router is working properly, and the Intel Entry Storage System device has been turned on before clicking Next again.

Click the Retry button to try again.

Click the Back button to start the install again."

I think this is because the power button is continuously flashing. I've left it on for an hour or more and it didn't stop. From what I've read, this could be because there is no operating system for the system to boot to (so, the USB is not set up correctly?).
I've tried resetting it as well but when the power button turned amber, it didn't flash, it just stayed solid and again, I left it on for an hour or more and it didn't change.

My questions are:
Should I format the USB and install WHS on it? Because from what I've read, it sounds like it'd be more user friendly for someone that is new to a NAS.
Do I have to change any setting with my router?
Do I need anything else installed on my PC?
I also use a VPN (PIA). Does that make any difference?

Thank you for any help you can offer.

ss4000e firmware version as "lease"?

$

Something happen to my ss4000e 'cause I can't login the system, I can't map drive letter (it shows me the message "The specified network name is no longer available"), but I can ping it succesfully. In Storage System Console I saw in system information that the version of NAS is "lease" instead of firmware version (fs-bc - 1.4b710). Is there a way to reinstall the firmware again? or Maybe I need a new Storage System?

Please let me know what I can do ...

Thanks...

RS25DB080 RAID Controller: FW in fault State

Hi,

Since a few days our server doesn't startup anymore. Suddently it stopped working and our RAID Controller RS24DB080 is giving the following error:

FW is in Fault State - MFI Register State 0xFFFFFFFF

FW has indicated system reset is required, System will reboot now.

After reboot server is hanging in the RAID BIOS. When shutdown the power, it starts again and seeing "Foreign Configuration". After continuiing with the config it gives the same error and reboots again.

Is the RAID Controller broken? We didn't do anything on the server. It stopped in the middel of the night.

Intel BIOS Firmware update package DOESN'T support INTEL Xeon

Hello

Thank you for your email, see below.

Board E51976-406

Serial no: AZGP05000111

BMC 1.23

HSC0.00

ME 06.00.30.1119

SDR 0.18

BIOS S3420GP.86B.01.00.0046

BIOS Build date 09/29/2010.

Before proceeding with BIOS update for Intel® Server Board S3420GPLC reading the important notes section I see the following.

The system BIOS revision provided in this software update package does not include processor microcode to support any production Intel(R) Xeon(R) processors.

Also when running EFI I'm advised to run BMC & FRUSDR before updating the BIOS. I didn't proceed to install update.

I'm TOTALLY confused.  I have Xeon processor.

If I install S3420GPLX/LC Firmware Update Package for EFI fully package how will this affect Xeon processor?

Thank you for your help.

Hello Christopher,

Thank you for your email.  I do not
see an S3420GPC board in the ARK product catalog, but the S3420GP TPS document
refers to the LC SKU as “S3420GPC”, so what you have may be the S3420GPLC: http://www.intel.com/content/dam/support/us/en/documents/motherboards/server/s3420gp/sb/s3420gp_tps_r2_4.pdf

You can download the BIOS update from
the “Download Drivers” menu option on the left side of the product page.

http://ark.intel.com/products/46533/Intel-Server-Board-S3420GPLC

If you do not see the software you are
looking for in the ARK driver list, you can search the Intel Download Center
website for your board model to see more options.

If you require further assistance, Intel
Customer Support can be reached through the following site:

SR2625URLX Server

Hi,

My SR2625URLX server has a beep code 1-5-4-4 and will not POST.  I have tried changing CPUs, RAM, and power supplies.  From the other posts I have read, it seems the remaining fault is the  PDB.  Should look for any other faulty parts?  I have ordered a PDB.

In trying with an ATX power supply, I was able to get to a video display so I think the PDB is at fault.  Does this seem reasonable?

Intel S1200SPL not able to keep chosen boot order

$

Hello,

Board is brand new, status LEDs looks OK, no strange beeps, cleared CMOS, updated to latest BIOS version, replaced CMOS battery and still can't get the board to keep a boot order I've chosen. Option is set to Legacy.

Drives present are the following:

1 x Samsung Pro 850 256GB SATA (Where the OS is and that's the drive I want to boot from)

2 x Intel SSD 750 1.2TB PCIe (for apps and data, software RAID 1)

2 x Seagate 2TB ST2000DM006 (for system back up)

I see all drives in the BIOS (Have to switch to UEFI mode to see the NVMe drives, but I don't want to boot from them anyway)

So what happen is whatever boot order I pick, it keeps loosing it and tries to boot from the Seagate drives or UEFI devices randomly. I have to press F6 to chose the right drive every single time I boot the server.

Running Windows Server 2016 Standard and SQL Server 2016, and it's rock solid once it's booted.

2 X 16GB Intel certified Micron memory modules and Xeon E3-1245 v5 CPU installed.

Thanks in advance.

I've got an Samsung 840 EVO (but I've used WD Red / Blue / Gold and a couple of Seagate Hdd's too) connected one of the 4 sataII ports all by itself.  I've got the mass storage controller in the bios set to AHCI.  I've also got a PNY video card in the x8 slot.  That's it.

Windows 2016 setup gets past the first re-boot.  Then it BSOD's.  Doesn't complete the setup.  Now, Win 2012 r2 set's up just fine.  Any ideas?
