MFSYS25 adding SSD

Is there a way to add SSDs to a MFSYS25 without AXXTM3SATA ? I have to change my SAS disks with new ones, but would like to get something from that change. Adding SSD with AXXTM3SATA reduce SSD performance in a big way, so i would love to do something that would increase system performance...

Is there a way to add some modern storage, or something else, so my old server get improved performance regarding storage ?

SS4200-E Software Storage Manager Software

Despite not knowing the admin password, I was able to reset this device and assign a new admin account.  The data is still there.  I can reach the data via http, however if I attempt to install the software from Intel-EMC "Software Storage Manager", the installation runs through all the steps and at the end, there is a red X and it states that Sorry. Please confirm that all cables have been properly connected, your router is working properly, and the Intel Entry Storage System device has been turned on before clicking Next again. Click the Retry button to try again. Click the Back button to start the install again. I am running Windows 7.  Any help would be very much appreciated.

Procedure to replace FRIG2PDB (power distibution board) in SC5400 chassis

Have s5000psl board mounted in SC5400 Intel chassis. Chassis has redundant PS plugged into FRIG2PDB.

Shutdown working server, removed power, opened chassis to blow out dust. Server will not power up.

Neither of the plugged in power supplies lights up any indicator LEDs. I suspect FRIIG2PDB to somehow have failed when powering off the unit.

I'd welcome any additional ideas.

Thank you,

S2600CWT compatible with E5-2600v4 Broadwell-EP CPUs

Hello everybody,

I'm currently running a single E5-2609v3 in my S2600CWT Mainboard. I just did a Bios Update to the latest Version (01.01.016 I think).

In the changelog it says it supports v3 as well als v4 CPUs.

On the ARK Page for my mainboard, it says it is only compatible with the v3.

The question is, whether my Mainboard is compatible to the newer Gen v4 CPUs?

Kind regards,

Jannik

Unable to passthrough GPU (AMD 6450), Intel 2600IP4 motherboard, esxi 6.0u2

I have been unable to passthrough my GPU cards - AMD 6450, to any of the windows 8 VMs (install under EFI firmware) , under esxi 6.0u2. The VM simple unable to power up. If the card is removed, it boots normally. No issues with passthrough of USB 3.0 cards or HBAs such as the onboard storage module or a dell H310 card.

This AMD card is a known GPU that is passthrough capable.

Is there any bios settings, esxi settings or sequence that is needed to allow this to happen?

Any help appreciated

S5520UR (SR2600URLX) not starting after BIOS update

Hi,

we've tried to update the MB BIOS to the latest version available at the site (068).

Download Security BIOS update for S5500/S5520 products

The original version we had - 038.

The flashing went without any errors. According to the startup.nsh the first step has been the flashing of the transition capsule (IFlash32.efi T066.cap /u /ni).

After the first reboot server won't start: no video and a continuous beep from the RAID controller board beeper (midplane).

And the BIOS recovery procedure won't boot it either:

  • put the bios recovery jumper to the pins 2-3,
  • prepare the USB flash drive (FAT32) with the FVMAIN.FV file

And the BIOS recovery procedure won't boot it either. The video won't come up, the flash drive flashes and then the diagnostic LEDs switch to some combination that we were unable to find in the board technical manual.

The video is linked below.

BTW, the CPU is Xeon 5520 .

IMG_2187.jpg

Any ideas on why the recovery procedure fails?

Is there any ports on the board to reprogram the flash chip without unsoldering?

Thanks in advance!

Raid 1 rebuild with Rapid Storage Technology

I bought a Dell computer which came with a single drive and Intel Rapid Storage Technology software (mirrored drives were not an option).  I then bought an identical drive and built a Raid 1 mirror using the Intel software, which went smoothly.  At some point a couple months later the original Dell drive failed.  Dell sent me a new drive, again identical.  I want to rebuild the mirror but am nervous that I will accidentally wipe the only working drive.  The original drive was on SATA 0 and the one I had purchased on SATA 1.  After the failure I moved the working drive to SATA 0 and the replacement drive to SATA 1. Instructions that I've read say to land your cursor on the new drive and click 'rebuild volume' but that is not how it is working.  Under "Status" I am given the option to rebuild and when clicked I am presented with an option to do so, but it's unclear which drive is which (see screenshots).

I would hope the software does not allow you to wipe your working drive but cannot find documentation to support that.  Just nervous about losing the entire working drive.  Can someone assist?  Thanks in advance for any help.

S2600CP can't start after I installed another graphics card

I fitted a S2600CP with 2*E5-2670 and 128GB Reg ECC in a tower case. The system was running normally for a month. I was using a GT610 and tried to replace it by a GTS450. The system just won't start even if I switched back to GT610. As long as I plug in the power cord, the blue SYSTEM ID LED will blink for several seconds, then turn constantly for around 1 minute and go out finally. The other LEDs are in green like normal. If I push the power button all the fans will rotate for less than 1 second and stop. I didn't find any visible damage on the board so there must be something wrong with the software. Anyone encountered the same problem? How to solve that? Thanks.

Hell, switch in our Intel modular server mysys25 started failing. All servers lost connectivity and we have to pull switch out and put it back in everytime. We ordered new switch, but when we put it in the chasis the foloving error appears: Fault Indication: ESM 2 Fault LED On . We tried to connect to new switch via Serial port, but that doesnt work either. Any suggestions? The firmware on the blade is the latest. I assume the problem is in mismatching firmware, but how to update firmware on the switch if I cant access it? Thanks for your help.

S5520SC boots with 1 CPU but not 2

Hello everyone,

The title of this post matches another post on this forum which was never answered and is 6 years old which is why I started a new thread.

I have been using the intel s5520sc motherboard for about 5 years now and I have always used only one CPU (xeon x5680 SLBV5). I purchased an identical second CPU recently but whenever I install it the system refuses to boot.

The system status led is green but the post diagnostic LEDS don't function at all. The fans run at max speed but there is no output. The RAM I use is in the official supported list for this motherboard. When I use only

one CPU (even the new one) everything boots without issues. I've tried booting without ram but then the system status led is orange and besides that there is no difference in booting compared to when RAM is present. Neither of the CPUs are engineering samples.

The power for the second CPU was plugged in. There are no bent pins on socket 2 BUT one pin is missing from socket 1 (but this has been so for years and I've never noticed it - picture included). I also have the latest BIOS for this motherboard (v63).

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

Regards,

Usui

S2600CWTR not booting with dual Xeon 2600 V4

I was just wondering if anybody has any experience with Intel S2600CWTR series serverboards and Xeon 2600 V4 processors.

It boots fine with single CPU E5-2600 V4 and also with dual E5-2600 V3 .... but not with dual V4.

Intel says only board rev H12882-260 has this issue .... but not H12882-261 or H12882-262 ... so they sent me new boards ... update BIOS to latest rev 16 but still the same problem.

I really want to use the V4 because  of better memory bandwidth, but I may have to downgrade to V3.

Anybody know anything about this issue?

Many thanks for any insight.

R1208SPOSHOR systems won't boot. They get to 4Fh and hang. Any suggestions?

We’re using the E3-1275v5 processor with Kingston 8GB DDR4 DIMMs. The Kingston pn is KVR21E15D8/8. I have checked the jumpers and cables and those look O.K. I took the DIMMs out and then the system responds with 3 long beeps that says I have a memory error. So that part works and it appears the processor is alive. I checked the diagnostic LEDs. If I am reading them correctly, it appears the system stops on 4Fh. Also, the blinking LED next to the 8 diagnostic LEDs goes from blinking green to a solid amber. Then after a short time the machine reboots.

Problem with the server on S1200V3RP platform

Hello

There is a problem with the server on S1200V3RP platform.

On the server has two disk to 2 TB in RAID1 (Used Programnyj RAID Intel Rapid Storage Technology). Suddenly, the server became very slow, disk write speed dropped to 1Mb / s. Status RAID rebuild. SMART drives both said that the wheels are in good condition. In spite of this I replaced the disk on which relied RAID and waited for the completion of rebuilding. I decided to work with one disk in a RAID and do backups on a network drive. A day later, the server is turned off independently. RAID is not seen any drive. It was possible to run the system after use after the Configuration Utility and recovery volume ... Tell me what could be the problem?

Invalid DIMM population error on S2600CP server board

As I purchased this board secondhand, I'm not sure if this is an S2600CP2 or S2600CP4. There is a sticker that reads:  PBA  E99552-507 QSCP22002137

I have dual Xeon E5-2630L v2 CPUs, and I have 4 x 8GB 1333MHz DDR3 registered, ECC DIMMs on order.

While waiting for these DIMMs to arrive, I decided to test the board with some desktop DIMMs just to make sure that the board is in working order. My understanding is that this board will accept regular desktop DIMMs. According to the "Technical Product Specifications", this board is supposed to support UDIMMs. Unless, there's such a thing as unregistered server DIMMs, I'm assuming "UDIMMs" is the same as typical desktop DIMMs.

First, I tried to a single 4GB 1333Mhz DDR3 desktop DIMM and got the "Invalid DIMM population" on POST. My understanding is that a single DIMM configuration is supported. I tried this single DIMM in all 4 banks, and got this error each time.

Second, I tried various combinations of 4 x 8GB 1600Mhz DDR3 desktop DIMMs. I've used these DIMMs singly, in pairs, and all 4 at a time. I've tried filling both slots of 2 channels as well as single slots of 4 channels. I've tried a single DIMM in all 4 banks, observing the "farthest fill first" rule.

Another thing to note is that although the "Invalid DIMM population" error appears on the display during POST, the LED POST progress code does not indicate this. According to the specifications, this error SHOULD BE indicated by:

Lower Nibble LEDs (lit green):  #0, #2, #3

Upper Nibble LEDs (lit amber): #5, #6, #7

However, in MY CASE, the LEDs are lit as follows:

Lower Nibble LEDs (lit green): #1, #2, #3

Upper Nibble LEDs (lit amber): #5, #6, #7

I don't even see this combination in the technical specifications.

Here is a video showing the POST progress LED sequence:
