RT3WB080 Invalid field in CDB
I have an RT3WB080 installed in a personal server. On startup, the controller always logs "Information" for each drive "Invalid field in CDB". It only appears once per boot and all the drives are tested with no bad blocks.
What does this mean and how to correct it? This started appearing after I replaced failure-prone Seagate drives with new WD Red 3TB drives.
Expanding RAID 5 with RT3WB080
I currently have two RAID 5 arrays configured on this board. One with 4 2TB drives and one with 4 3TB drives. I'm getting rid of the 2TB drives and was hoping to replace them with 3TB drives and add them to the existing array of 3TB drives is this kind of expansion possible without losing the data already on the array?
RT3WB080 and e-mail alerting
Hello everyone. First post here.
Recently set up a RT3WB080 RAID controller on a new backup server. We have 8 consumer SSD disks tied into it. Working flawlessly so far, (despite how crazy hot this chip runs). My question is on the e-mail alerting functionality. Am I missing something or is it very vanilla and unconfigurable? I cannot set up ports or TLS authentication. We use Office365 for our cloud e-mail hosting and it requires TLS for everything. Does this mean I will never be able to e-mail alert or is there an update or a CLI option? I feel the need to monitor the chip and it's array because they are an off brand consumer SSD.
thanks for any info!

S2600CWT compatible with E5-2600v4 Broadwell-EP CPUs
Hello everybody,
I'm currently running a single E5-2609v3 in my S2600CWT Mainboard. I just did a Bios Update to the latest Version (01.01.016 I think).
In the changelog it says it supports v3 as well als v4 CPUs.
On the ARK Page for my mainboard, it says it is only compatible with the v3.
The question is, whether my Mainboard is compatible to the newer Gen v4 CPUs?
Kind regards,
Jannik
Problem NIC Configuration Intel S2600CW
I have a problem with the Ethernet configuration on my new Intel S2600CW Board.
Windows Server 2010 R2 doesn't find any of the Ethernet interfaces. In the BIOS, the Page for NIC Configuration is empty.
I updatet the Bios to the latest Version:1.01.0016; 1.43.9685
But, I am able to set an IP address in Intel Active System Console and successfully send a ping.
But in the device Manager I have no Network Cards and no ungnown devices listed.
Does someone have any hint for me?
Best regards

where can I activate IMS features
Hi there,
We have some spare parts backplanes for the old MFSYS25V2 system and we would like to activate shared lun on those. The old imskey.intel.com does not work currently and the redirect:
https://serverservices.intel.com/imskey.html is also offline.
How can we activate the shared LUN for those spares? Because if we don't have the shared LUN, we can't use the spare parts.
Does any one have a clue?
Thanks,
Tim
ESRT2 + Raid Web Console 2 problems
Purchased new Lenovo TD230 Server to be new mail server. Desired configuration of 4 HDD is as follows:
1) 2 x 500Gb - Raid 1 - Operating system & programs
2) 2 x 1 TB - Raid 1 - Data/Files
Have had multiple problems with setting up this RAID configuration (mainly keeping it configured correctly). Will list the first problems for reference, in case helpful or relevant, and then the current situation.
First problem:
Hooked up all 4 drives (Sata ports 1-4; 5=DVD drive). Started system using the provided easy set-up tools. Configured the 2 separate Raid 1 arrays. Seemed to work fine.
Started install of Windows Server 2008 r2. After installation, disk manager showed that there was a drive C:\ of 500gb (which was mirrored via RAID 1- as desired), but that "something" had changed the second raid config. Windows now allocated/partitioned 500gb out of one of the 1TB drives, marked the rest unused, and showed the whole disk as "offline."
-didn't find any way to fix this, so decided to remove the 2 x 1TB drives (physically), configure the 2x500gb Raid 1 anew, install OS, then add the 2nd array of 2x1TB after.
Everything has went smoothly except for the 2nd array.
In the ESRT2 Bios, the 'configure' option for the second array only gives an option of "Array 0," "Span-1." I'm hesitant to select this, because I don't want to overwrite anything on the first array. Can't find much documentation to help with this.
Intel suggested using the "Intel RAID Web Console 2" to do these things. Installed from supplied disk- didn't have options needed. Found updated version from Intel site. Installed. After hooking the 2 x 1TB drives back up, they show up in the 'console,' but as soon as I click on them in any way, it flashes and goes to "Hot Spare (global)," removing all options to configure either one into a new RAID array.
Restarting, and going back into ESRT2 Bios, now shows them both as 'HOTSPRS' and I can't do anything with them in the bios, now, either.
Note: did restart, remove drives, restart: normal in bios/web console (they didn't show up). hook up disks, restart, normal in bios, normal in web console...until drive is selected in any way, then flashes to Hot Spare.
Not sure what's going wrong or why. All input is appreciated...especially the one that remedies and explains.
Thanks,
Alex
Multiple arrays with ESRT2
Is it possible to set up multiple RAID arrays (2 arrays, one with 3 drives(Raid 5) and one with 2 drives (Raid 1)) using ESRT2? The server board in use is S3420gp.

s1200SPO fan noise
I've built a small file server around the S1200SPO. This is for a small company that has no riser room, or server room. The file server sits in an open concept office, but the fan noise is higher than their last Dell server so I'm trying to bring it down. I've set the option to "acoustic" mode in the BIOS but the fans continue to spin at full all the time. I thought that they would settle after the boot but they do not. They stay high. I know the chipset drivers are installed and there doesn't seem to be any drivers missing. Any ideas what I can try?
S2600WT2 & HCL / discrete graphic card
Hi,
I'm in search of an HCL regarding the S2600WT2 Server Mainboard.
We'd like to add an discrete graphic card, but i cant find a HCL / QVL anywhere.
Any hints?
Goal is to run a discrete graphic card with 4x DP in the Server.

How to orginize hardware RAID 1 with two intel PCIe NVMe SSD
How to orginize hardware RAID 1 with two intel PCIe NVMe 2.0Tb DC P3600 / P3700 or P3608 for linux ?
I plan to use the platform R2208WTTYS in the creation of the database server with two Intel SSD DC S3710 Series 200GB in mirror for system, and two PCIe NVMe SSD for database.
With DC S3710 i don't have trouble because R2208WTTYS contain Intel RSTe , but i don't understand how to make PCIe SSD work in array.
And yes - i don't whant use MDADM.

S1200SPO not detecting installed M.2
After installing an m.2, I cannot see the drive listed anywhere in the BIOS, nor is it listed when installing an OS.
The make/model of the m.2/2242 is Transcend MTS400.
Which BIOS screen would show this? I do not see any area with 'm.2' verbiage.

AXX6DRV3GR, AXX4DRV3GR and Power Disable Pin P3
I'm using some Intel AXX6DRV3GR and AXX4DRV3GR backplanes. Before I buy new HDDs I need to know whether power pin 3 of the AXX6DRV3GR's HDD connectors are connected or not connected. And if they are connected, are they connected to 0 V or to 3.3 V?
I'm asking this because some new HDDs will not power up if P3 is not connected to 0 V.
Power Disable Pin (Pin3) is a new feature in the SATA 3.3 industry standard specification (published in February 2016). And on SAS 3.0, P3 is used to redefine as a POWER DISABLE signal.
