I have bought an intel "server" board S1200V3RPL. Am I alone and without support now?

Hello!

I just bought an intel server board S1200V3RPS with a new Xeon E3-1275v3 for my workstation. The reason is simply, that ECC is not supported for the i7 which is very similiar.

My main problem ist, that in difference to the DH87xx desktop Haswell boards where Intel Visual BIOS allows fan speed control, seems to be not existing for server boards? At least I don't find any related information.

The DVD contains dozens of difficult to install command line programs but no hint for fan control at all. In the BIOS there is only one point for fan setting, which is not understandable, and is not a fan speed control.

I am very disappointed in the whole intel information politics. I did not wanted a server board myself.  I did want only ECC, and I trusted intel.

It seems I am a third class citizen (customer) now.

(0. First my vendor wanted to sell me the board with ECC with an i7. Only by occasion we discovered, that this is not supported. Quite hidden and surprising information, that i3 is supported, but i7 not.)

1. When I tried to find information about the boards, I did find only quite useless comparisons between the RPM, RPL and RPS variants of the board. The comparison included only some very minor and bad documented differences. What was not mentioned were such "minor things" like:

The RPS board does not support the Xeon built-in graphics (no DisplayPort connector), only the RPM board has it. Would be good, if that was mentioned in the compare... Now I have the wrong board.

2. The RPS board does have 7 USB ports, but only two are USB 3.0 and it is nowhere documented that the others are not.

After much research, again I found out, that the RPL/RPM variants have two internal USB 3.0 connectors on the board itself which allow to be connected to the case front panel. Mine not. Just the same as 1. I would have liked to know that before buying.

3. As I mentioned. After spent 12 hours or so, no temperature control, no fan speed control out of the box with Intel software.

The motherboard let all fans to howl on full speed without any temperature dependency, even if the processors are cold as ice.

I have not expected the company treats the customers with higher requirements so bad. I cannot describe how frustrated I am.

I found a third party software for the temperature disply (hardwareinfo), but that's all.

And, I know, I am writing to the "Support Community", but only desktop boards are supported here. :-(

Any ideas of gracious people so far, not punishing me for my impertinence?

Best regards, Phil

Hi all

I have two workstations with S1200V3RPM board and XEON E3 1265LV3 Processor. One runs Win 8.1 on this machine, Intel update found a driver for the P4600 graphics of the XEON.

The other machine runs Windows 7 (need Win 7 cannot switch to 8.1). On this machine Windows update does NOT find any graphics driver for the P4600. I tried installing the driver for 4600 driver, but I get an error message on installation.

Can anyone tell me where I can find the correct driver for P4600 and Windows 7 64bit?

Thanks and regards

I have a S5500WB motherboard but nned a psu for it, I know the board is stated to require a

Intel Corp FSR1690PS 650 watt psu, I have found one but its a little out of my price range.

I also found a Delta TDPS-600CB C 600W 1U Power Supply for Intel Server SR1560SF a lot

cheaper. My questions are.

1) will it have enough power for the board?

2) If not are there any other psu that will work with this board?

Issue with Spare Hard Drive on Intel MFSYS25V2

This morning I came into work and I heard a noise that I am not use to.... I thought it was coming from a different server however after investigating the noise I noticed it was coming from out Intel Modular Server, Model MFSYS25V2.

We have a total of 10 Hard drives which Hard drives 1-4 and 7-11 are as follows:

Status:     OK

Drive 1 (2,3,4,7,8,9,10,11)

Drive Size:     279.39GB

Usuable Space:     278.46GB

Role: Member of Storage Pool

HDD Write Back Cache : Disabled

Hard Drive 5

Status :   Predictive Failuer (PFA)

Drive Size:     279.39GB

Usable Space:  278.46GB

Role :  unused

HDD Write Back Cache: Disabled

Hard Drive 12

Status OK

Drive 12

Drive Size:     279.39GB

Usable Space:  278.46GB

Role:   Dedicated Hot Spare (revertible)

HDD Write Back Cache: Disabled

In the Events tab, at 5:35 this morning for Drive 05 these messages started to appear:

time, Description = Drive has been reset, Component =Drive 05 Severity=Info, Policy ID 145, User=System

and

time, Description=Command times out on drive, Component=Drive 05, Severity=warning, Policy ID=159, User=System

I have no clue as to what to do,  Any help would be greatly appreciated!  I have so many questions:

What can I do to Stop this noise?

Can I Click on Clear PFA Condition and the noise go away?

Can I take the (bad) Hard Drive out and if I do take it out, do I need to shut the whole unit or can I just pull it out?

If I can pull it out, do I have to replace it with another hard drive?

From what I can see, this hard drive has had the PFA Condition for over a year and I gather that now the hard drive wants to act up.

Again Any help would be greatly appreciated and if you need any other information to assist me in this issue please ask and I will provide to the best of my knowledge.

Thank you

S1200BTLR: Active System Console "Data is being retrieved, Please retry"...

Hi,

I have a S1200BTLR motherboard with E3-1280 V2 and 16Gb ram.

Everything appears to be running fine with Server 2008 r2 sp1 64bit (enterprise edition).

However, I can't get the Intel Active System Console to work (I'm only trying to run it on the local machine).

When I logon it forever says "Data is being retrieved, Please retry".The documentation says it normal to get this message for a short while, but my installation never moves beyond this.

I've tried uninstalling and re-installing, several times, using version from the CD that came with motherboard (\software\windows\asc\asc_x64.exe), and latest download from Intel (IASC-5.0-Build15_Windows.zip).

Nothing seems to help.

I've updated all the bios and firmware:

Bios Version: S1200BT.86B.02.00.0037

Build date: 05/30/2012

BMC Firmware Version: 1.14.3503

SDR Version: SDR Package 1.14

ME Firmware Version: 2.2.0.36.

Can anyone help me with ideas to get this piece of software to work please?

Thanks,

Hi All,

I did a search but didn't find what I was looking for. So here I am.

We just purchased a Intel Server System R2216GZ4GC with :

Kingston ValueRAM

Memory - 16 GB - DIMM 240-pin - DDR3 - 1600 MHz / PC3-12800 - CL11 - 1.5 V

- registered - ECC - Intel Memory Validation Program

2 Intel Xeon E5-2630V2

2.6 GHz - 6-core - 12 threads - 15 MB cache - LGA2011 Socket - Box

The server starts the fans and I can see lights on the mobo but it will no post (no beeps) and no video to see what is going on.  I have two DIMMS installed in A1 and E1 memory slots.  This is the first time it has ever been started.

Any thoughts?

I have just put together a system, but it does not get past post.

Error leds indicate 0x15 North Bridge PEI Module Starts.

All parts are new.

MB: S1200BTSR

CPU: I3-3220 (BX80637I33220)

RAM: KVR1333D3E9SK2/16G ( 32GB 2x kits of 2x8gb sticks)

PSU: ATX v2.3 750w

I have tested all different RAM configs, and other type of RAM without any success. Always end up with 0x15 (xxxO xOxO)

If I boot without any RAM Modules I get RAM error Beep Codes.

Also tried to remove everything connected to the board, but still same error.

Any ideas on what it might be?

Hello!

We made OS upgrade from Windows Server 2008 R2 to Windows Server 2012 R2 and now there is a such problem:

I can't uninstall Intel Rapid Storage Technology software via Control Panel - Programs and Features:

I choose "Uninstall", then click "Next" - "Next" - window closes and nothing happens.

Is there way to uninstall Intel Rapid Storage Technology manually (via command line or etc) ?

Update BIOS on SRCS16 RAID Controller

$

I'm trying to use an SRCS16 RAID controller in a system with a S7320SP motherboard.

Whenever I try to power up the system with the SRCS16 installed I get a 'Parity Error', and can't get to the BIOS configuration.

I have come across an article saying that there may be a BIOS version issue happening.

http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/server/sb/CS-016622.htm

The S7320SP now has the latest (11.x ) BIOS

This article says that I need to update the BIOS on the SRCS16 by disabling the on-board NIC on the motherboard.

However no matter what I do, I am unable to get the system to start with the SRCS16 installed.

I've also tried installing the SRCS16 in at least one other system (a HP DL380 G4), temporarily just to update the BIOS, but this also conflicts (probably with the onboard SCSI Controller).

I'm struggling to find a system with either a 32 bit or 64 bit 3.3v PCI slot.

I'm unsure the current BIOS in the SRCS16.

I have a number of versions of the BIOS for the SRCS16 ( up to ver 713S )

Any help would be appreciated

X38ML Board Fans Go Crazy After Updating To Newest BIOS

$

Like it says in the title...  I upgraded the motherboard (X38ML) with the latest BIOS/BMC/FRUSDR and now the fans are maxed out making them loud as an airplane!  I used the following update package...

X38ML_BIOS52_BMC15_FRUSDR6.zip

Then followed these steps which were located in a file called "release.txt" in the update package...

To Update from the embedded EFI Shell, update system firmware from Intel server EFI shell by the following steps:

- Download Intel server system firmware update package from support.intel.com

- Unzip package and copy all files to a folder in USB disk on key

- Insert USB disk on key to server USB port

- Reboot server to EFI shell

- Run command "map -r" in EFI shell to mount USB disk on key

- Run command "fs0:" to change folder to USB disk on key, USB key may also mount to

fs1:. The number of "fs" is dependent on the result of command "map -r"

- Change folder to the folder storing the firmware package

- Run command "startup.nsh" to start firmware update process

When the update process started I had to answer a few questions...

1) Do I have the "intel sr1520ml chassis", I choose NO.

2) It went through all 6 asking me "Do you have Fan X installed?" (X being 1-6).  I said yes for all 6.

3) Do I want to update info such as the serial/model of some things.  I said NO.

(Then BOOM!  Fans at 100%)  reboot...   Fans still at 100%...

Ideas please!  I'm going deaf...

Unable to boot up Intel® Workstation Board W2600CR2 with Dual E5-2600v2 processor

Hi

Intel® Workstation Board W2600CR2 with Firmware S2600IP_W2600CR_EFI_BIOS02020002_ME020107328_BMC0120r5446_FRUSDR0111.zip

4 x Crucial 16GB kit (8GBx2), Ballistix 240-pin DIMM, DDR3 PC3-14900 memory module

unable to boot up the board with 2 units of commercial box:-

Intel® Xeon® Processor E5-2690V2, 3GHZ, 25MB Cache, LG2011, 130W

Intel® Xeon® Processor E5-2640V2, 2GHZ, 20MB Cache, LG2011, 95W

It is working with only single E5-2600v2 processor.

It is working with Dual E5-2650 processor.

This indicate that this not a HW issue, because dual Sandy Bridge processors is working, and single Ivy Bridge processor is working means that the BIOS has detected Ivu Bridge processor.

So the question is why the board would not boot with dual Ivy Bridge processor.

Does the S1200V3RP family support S3 State and WoL?

Hi,

does the S1200V3RP family, especially the S1200V3RPS, support the S3 State (Suspend to RAM) and Wake on LAN?

In the manual on page 38 -> 3.4.8 Enhanced Power Management it says "The Intel C220 series chipset's power management functions include enhanced clock control and various low-power (suspend) states (for example, Suspend-to-RAM and Suspend-to-Disk)".

On page 44 -> 6.3 Advanced Configuration and Power Interface in the "Table 16. ACPI Power States" it says "S3 No".

And whats with Wake on LAN, does the S1200V3RPS support Wake on LAN?

thanks and regardss

NMI detected. System Halted - during bios flash

Hi All,

Im working on a second intel server R2216GZ4GC and trying to update the BIOS so I can use E5-2600 V2 CPUs.

Intel shipped me an older E5-2600 processor which I installed in CPU Slot 1 and one DIMM in memory slot A1. The BMC BIOs is updated successfully and then the chassis BIOs update start and it errors with "NMI detected. System Halted".  I've tried different DIMMS but the update always stops at this same point.  I have successfully updated the BIOs in a similar intel server with this CPU, memory and the same Flash drive so I know that is good.

Memory is

Oracle VM on ESRT-2 mirror on S1200V3RPL

I have a motherboard S1200V3RPL with 2 HDDs. I configured a RAID-1 using the ESRT2 provided by the motherboard, and I tried to install multiple Virtualization solutions including Oracle VM.

Oracle VM 3.2.7 is based on RedHat/Oracle Linux 5.x for which I found the drivers here: Download Center

I unarchived the zip downloaded and I copied to a USB drive.

I started the installation from Oracle VM CD, and I passwd the following arguments:

mboot.c32 xen.gz --- vmlinuz linux dd noprobe=ata1 noprobe=ata2 noprobe=ata3 noprobe=ata4 --- initrd.img

When I was asked for the disk drivers, I pointed to the DUDs\megasr-15.04.2013.1016-1-rhel50-U9-64.img file, which was causing no errors

But in the screen for selecting the target installation storage I have nothing.

Any thoughts? Any other virtualization option?
