Intel Server Board S1200V3RPL Fan speed

d I was sold Intel Barebone System P4308RPLSHDR 4U 460W Server Board S1200V3RPL with 8x3.5inch Hot Swap Drive Kit Retail, which comes with the above mentioned server board.  I was also sold a PCI RAID controller card, and later discovered that the motherboard has a RAID controller built into it.  When I turn on the system, the fans sound like a plane getting ready for take off.  I looked in the system setup and found what was supposed to be an option to change the fan speed but I couldn't tell that it really did anything.  Is there anything that can be done about the fan noise?

I also was sold a mini SAS to mini SAS cable to go from the backplate for the hard drives to the PCI RAID controller card. The instructions say to press control G when the option appears, but it doesn't appear.  Any ideas on that too?

Dimm disabled on server board s2600cp

Hi I had a s2600cp mother with 16x 8gb ram memory running windows server 2012 with out problem. The server broke so I got a new one exactly same model. This new server only recognized 10 of the 16 ram memory slots, I tryed many solutions and thought the motherboard might be defective so I change it for another one exactly same model. This new board recognize 12 of the 16 ram memory slots, I updated the bios, checked the ram memories on another computer and the work fine. If I leave only the rams on the defective slots the pc wont start. The program CPUID CPU-Z identify the 16 ram memory but not the motherboard. Also the pc dont recognize my cellphone when I connect it via usb, usb drives works fine.

The error I recieve on the bios is dimm disable couldnt initialize for those four slots

How to fit S3500 SSD to R1304RPSSFBN

Hello,

Intel ARK lists the S3500 SSD as being compatible with the R1304RPSSFBN but the drive bays in this server only fit 3.5" drives.

For the entry level fixed pedestal servers, the hotswap pedestals servers and the hotswap rackmount servers there is no problem as the drive trays support both 2.5" and 3.5" drives.

How do Intel suggest the S3500 series can be fitted to the R1304RPSSFBN is there a 3.5"  drive sled that is approved?

Server System P4308RPLSHDR, how many mini-Sas to Sata cables?

Wondering if anyone knows how many mini-sas to Sata cables come with the server system P4308RPLSHDR?

Other Intel Server Chassis systems with 8 hot swap bays and the backplane only come with one min-sas to sata cable

and then you have to order the whole air duct kit just to get a second cable.

Thanks in advance!

Hi guys. I recently updated the firmware on my RAID card with the latest firmware from Intel. I also downloaded the latest driver for Windows 8. And ever since these 2 updates, when I play a movie, it freezes and when I reboot, I get an error message from the RAID Web Utility about firmware failure on the RAID card. Please help.raid error.JPG

RS2BL040 (Not importable VD) RAID0

Ok, I am panicking big time.

I have a RS2BL040 with 6 x 1TB drives set up in 3 VD each set up in RAID0.

VD0 - System drive. Ok

VD1 - Data Drive - Problem!!

VD2 - Data Drive. Ok

So the choice was made to upgrade from the 1TB to 4TB for the VD1. Normally not a big issue, back up data, as an extra precaution, remove one of the RAID0 drives and go from there.

Well something went wrong. Horribly horribly wrong. The 4TB drives are not playing fair right now and neither is the one 1TB that we still had.

Scrapping everything, we decided to revert back to the removed drive... And now it won't import the configuration on the drive.

Can anyone help? I am not sure what information is needed.

Intel MFSYS25v2 Upgrade

Hello,

According to the manual of the Thomas Krenn website, it ist possible to upgrade a chassis MFSYS25 to MFSYS25V2 - http://www.thomas-krenn.com/de/wiki/Neues_Modular-Chassis_MFSYS25V2

i´ve been able to upgrade two chassis by following the instructions, i had to change the midplane and the management module - worked really fine.

Now i have the following situation:

I have one chassis with a midplane with V1 firmware, but with the productnumber T/A# D70484-408 (with 2GB SD card) which is upgradeable to V2, and one MM2 module. According to manual of theThomas Krenn website, it is necessary to format the SD, as the V1 firmware is still included.

Here is my question:

can i simply format the SD card under windows (with fat32 for example), or do i have to follow specific instructions, or use a special tool for that?

When i format the SD card and then change the components, will the V2 firmware be installed automatically? For a testing purpose, i replaced the SD card with an other, empty one, which didn´t work at all.

I´m afraid that, when i format the SD card the chassis doesn´t startup any longer and is no longer accessable.

Has anybody already performed an upgrade like this.

Please help.

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

I have an Intel Multiflex system MFSYS25 with six blades and an Promise vTrak e310s.

4 of the servers have internal storage presented but i want that the other two servers to boot from Promise and use a shared lun. I followed the instructions in the connection guide from intel but when i'm trying to boot the second server, the first one freezes and cannot access the storage.

What is strange, is that even i don;t have any internal storage presented to the servers, in the LSI sas from the blade i see a lun 0 Multiflex V-LUN. How can i disable it?

I have to mention that i use RedHat Enterprise Linux 6.5 on the servers.

Please advice,

Hello,

The P4308RPLSHDR has an 8 bay hot swap HDD unit that blocks the RAID cacher battery mounting location.

Where do Intel suggest the cache battery be mounted in this chassis as a result of the designed position being unavailable

I have bought an intel "server" board S1200V3RPL. Am I alone and without support now?

Hello!

I just bought an intel server board S1200V3RPS with a new Xeon E3-1275v3 for my workstation. The reason is simply, that ECC is not supported for the i7 which is very similiar.

My main problem ist, that in difference to the DH87xx desktop Haswell boards where Intel Visual BIOS allows fan speed control, seems to be not existing for server boards? At least I don't find any related information.

The DVD contains dozens of difficult to install command line programs but no hint for fan control at all. In the BIOS there is only one point for fan setting, which is not understandable, and is not a fan speed control.

I am very disappointed in the whole intel information politics. I did not wanted a server board myself.  I did want only ECC, and I trusted intel.

It seems I am a third class citizen (customer) now.

(0. First my vendor wanted to sell me the board with ECC with an i7. Only by occasion we discovered, that this is not supported. Quite hidden and surprising information, that i3 is supported, but i7 not.)

1. When I tried to find information about the boards, I did find only quite useless comparisons between the RPM, RPL and RPS variants of the board. The comparison included only some very minor and bad documented differences. What was not mentioned were such "minor things" like:

The RPS board does not support the Xeon built-in graphics (no DisplayPort connector), only the RPM board has it. Would be good, if that was mentioned in the compare... Now I have the wrong board.

2. The RPS board does have 7 USB ports, but only two are USB 3.0 and it is nowhere documented that the others are not.

After much research, again I found out, that the RPL/RPM variants have two internal USB 3.0 connectors on the board itself which allow to be connected to the case front panel. Mine not. Just the same as 1. I would have liked to know that before buying.

3. As I mentioned. After spent 12 hours or so, no temperature control, no fan speed control out of the box with Intel software.

The motherboard let all fans to howl on full speed without any temperature dependency, even if the processors are cold as ice.

I have not expected the company treats the customers with higher requirements so bad. I cannot describe how frustrated I am.

I found a third party software for the temperature disply (hardwareinfo), but that's all.

And, I know, I am writing to the "Support Community", but only desktop boards are supported here. :-(

Any ideas of gracious people so far, not punishing me for my impertinence?

Best regards, Phil

R2000GZ (S2600GZ) is not booting

$

I have an R2000GZ (2600GZ) that isn't booting.  It runs Windows Small Business Server 2011 and has been in production for ten months.  I rebooted the server yesterday evening and it will not complete the Power On Self Test (POST).  I hear three short beeps and have no video at the console.

I'm looking at the server's Integrated BMC Web Console.  The Server Health tab in the BMC Web Console says CATERR reports that it has been asserted.  Health status for CATERR is critical (its red) and it reports reading 0x0002.

I'm using the BMC's Console Redirection feature but have no video there either.

I have tried to power cycle the server several times but get the same results.

I've reseated the RAM but that didn't make a difference.  I get the same result.

There are two Xeon E5-2620 processors in this system.

I suspect something is wrong with one of the CPUs because the CATERR sensor is under the Processor category.

Looking at the Event Log, in the BMC Web Console, I see a message from BMC FW Health that says 'P1 Therm Margin' sensor has failed and may not be providing a valid reading - Asserted.

Edit added 4/12/14 at 12:26 PM CDT.

I removed CPU #1 and put CPU #2 in the CPU #1 socket.  I removed CPU #1's memory and moved CPU #2's RAM to CPU#1 RAM and tried booting with one processor but that didn't make a difference.

I added the former CPU #1 in the CPU #2 socket and reinstalled all the RAM but it didn't make a difference.

In the BMC Web Console, the following sensors are unknown in the health column:

P1 Therm Margin

P1 Therm Ctrl %

P1 DTS Therm Mgn

DIMM Thrm Mrgn1

DIMM Thrm Mrgn 2

DIMM Thrm Mrgn 3

DIMM Thrm Mrgn 4

I now suspect my motherboard has a bad temperature sensor.

The RAID controller is the C600 and the Intel Rapid Storage Enterprise driver was installed in the OS.  The storage configuration consists of one RAID 5 array with 6 Intel SSDSC2CT24 SSD drives.  Can these drives be moved to a different R2000GZ with the same hardware configuration?  Will the RAID controller in the different R2000GZ see the drives and the RAID array and boot from them?

Any help would be appreciated.

Need Help with configuring Intel® Server Board S2600JFQ

$

Hi all!

I want to build a web and mail server for myself only.  I went only and bought the Intel Server Board S2600JFQ thinking is would work and look like any other mother board that fill fit into a E-ATX chassis and will work with any power supply. So I bought the correct CPU and a normal 600W power supply and 2 SSD'S.  But I saw that the board only has two 6pin power connectors and upon further research I found that this board goes into a NODE and is part of Intel® Server System H2000JF chassis.

I tried to return the board to the supplier for refund but they said that that is not possible and now I'm waiting to hear if I can exchange it.  But what if they don't.

So my question is:  do I really need to buy these parts:  power supply: FXX1200PCRPS? -- Power Distribution board: FXXCRPSPDB?

if I have to buy these... how do I connect everything to work?  or can I make this work with a normal power supply and a normal chassis?

Thank you for the help,

Nandos

Oracle VM on ESRT-2 mirror on S1200V3RPL

$

I have a motherboard S1200V3RPL with 2 HDDs. I configured a RAID-1 using the ESRT2 provided by the motherboard, and I tried to install multiple Virtualization solutions including Oracle VM.

Oracle VM 3.2.7 is based on RedHat/Oracle Linux 5.x for which I found the drivers here: Download Center

I unarchived the zip downloaded and I copied to a USB drive.

I started the installation from Oracle VM CD, and I passwd the following arguments:

mboot.c32 xen.gz --- vmlinuz linux dd noprobe=ata1 noprobe=ata2 noprobe=ata3 noprobe=ata4 --- initrd.img

When I was asked for the disk drivers, I pointed to the DUDs\megasr-15.04.2013.1016-1-rhel50-U9-64.img file, which was causing no errors

But in the screen for selecting the target installation storage I have nothing.

Any thoughts? Any other virtualization option?
