Hi,

I need update my RAID Controller, but I can't update by EFI. The command is not recognized.

After doing some research, I realized that my EFI is in version 1.1 and needs to upgrade to version 2.0 or higher (S5000 PSL)

How can I do this?

Hello,

I'm using a Intel S5000PSL Server Board with two Xeon L5320 CPUs and am having a problem with the power consumption.

The CPU does not step down to a lower power level.

Is there a way I can achieve that?

Here are some Informations from the server:

I hope you can help me to either find a setting, so I can put it into a more energy preserving mode when the power is not used.

Or if not have a recommendation on what to switch to, if it is not possible for some reasons.

Thank you very much in advance!

Hello, and happy new year! I am long winded, and if you would rather skim, if you look below the very breif version is listed under short version summery lol.  Thank you!  If you want to read the full story continue on. This is my first server build, and I have tried hard to read through all the applicable manuals and available system information before making each step.  I have had this server up and running for a few months, and everything was okay, with one noticeable exception!  Every since I installed my first GPU, amd radeon 5800 hd, the bios doesn't display anymore via the on-board vga port, nor, the graphics cards video outputs.  I have tried resetting the bios to its default configuration by booting blindly and pressing f2 to load bios, f9 enter to set defaults, then f10 enter to save and exit.. I have also done a hard cmos default reset several times without the graphics card present, I have tried several methods, one from the manual (i think that is outdated now, just turn system off, move jumper to j2-j3 for 5 seconds, then move back and turn powre back on).  I have also tried shutting the system down, turning a/c power off, moving jumper to j2-j3, turning power back on for 45-50 sec, then turning ac power back off and resetting the jumper to j1-j2.  The later definitely seems to clear the cmos as my post codes reset.  However, even if I remove the cmos battery and do all the above and leave everything un powered for an hour, i still never see my on board video or graphics card video for my bios.. and.. as such i can not diagnose what is probably a simple boot failure.

Before this, I was just letting windows load and once it did so, my GPU would kick in and everything was fine.. This made for some scary windows update procedures because its all black with no way to see anything!  I knew the day would come i'd need to see the boot information/bios... That day is here!  Anyone with any information or advice please contact me via email or reply.. It would be so greatly appreciated.  Thank you in advance, and I hope you all have a great year!

*** SHORT VERSION SUMMERY ***

Cant see any BIOS / Pre-Windows Display what so ever, either on-board vga, nor via installed graphics card. (Gpu works fine if windows boots, just no display before)

System has worked for months, but since installing graphics card bios display has been disabled somehow

tried resetting cmos severl times with several methods w/o gpu installed and no luck!

Thank you and have a great day!

S1200SPL (DBS1200SPL) - Questions about technical specifications

$

Hi,

I hope I'm posting my questions in the right location, I am about to purchase a couple of S1200SPL (DBS1200SPL) boards.

Curiously these are the only motherboards on the entire market that fit absolutely every single hardware criterion I have - unfortunately I was unable to find some technical details about this model, I already checked the following pages:

Intel® Server Board S1200SPL

1) Does this motherboard support the Core i3-6100 CPU? I was only able to locate i3-6300T and i3-6320 on the lists but it would be rather strange if the UEFI of a motherboard by the CPU's manufacturer itself would only support select 6th-generation Core i3 CPUs (that are in the same TDP class).

2) Some of the motherboards are to be used in workstation systems that are not running 24/7, does the UEFI support:

a) S3 - Suspend to RAM

b) S4 - Hibernate

c) "Deep Sleep" in S4+S5, also known as "EuP/ErP ready"

3) Since the model seems to be EOL - are there any details about a sucessor that also supports Kaby Lake CPUs?

Thank you very much for your help!

Intel® Server System R1304GZ4GC and Intel Integrated RAID Module RMS25CB080

hi there,

new user here

I have recently purchased a R1304GZ4GC 1u server with the integrated raid controller.  Unfortunately im after something that can support JBOD disks so i can manage the disk with software.  I know im loosing out on performance but im comfortable with software raid systems.

I updated all the Bios Firmware for the system with success when i first got it.  Im going to use the onboard sas controllers

I would like to remove the module and battery backup unit but when i removed the module the system would ramp up the fans to 100% on the one side.  The server BMC web health status shows a BMC error.

BMC FW Health
Management Subsystem Health
'' sensor has failed and may not be providing a valid reading - Asserted

So its complaining about the temp sensor on the module missing as i have physically removed it.  Should this actually throw a error in the first place?  If so how do i get the server to not look for it, is there a BMC reset/refresh/rescan option im missing in the bios.

If someone could point me in the right direction to overcome this error i would be grateful, i have replaced the raid module and things are back to normal.  But i would like it removed and sold on so its at least put to good use somewhere.

Thanks

Craig

RS2SG244 "latest" firmware, v12.14.0-0185 or 12.13.0-0105 ?

RS2SG244 with 22 SATA drives connected. Updated to "latest" firmware, v12.14.0-0185 now half the drives don't appear. Then I noticed that there is a "High port count" firmware which is only at version 12.13.0-0105 Both are listed as compatible with RS2SG244. Should I have installed 12.13.0-0105 instead, and if so is there anything I can do about it now?

R2208GZ4GC with A2U44X25NVMEDK NVME upgrade kit only 1 nvme detected

Hi,

we have upgraded one of our R2208's with the NVME upgrade kit. Replaced Riser nr.2 with the included riser (2 slots) and used the (top) 16x slot for the nvme interface card.

However we see only 1 out of 4 NVME's. The first one on the left is active (green LED), the other 3 show no led activity at all, not physically and not in bios/windows.

Additional power connecter is connected. We are using Intel P3520. Any idea what can cause only 1 out of 4 drives being detected? Mainboard Bios is current.
Could this be a lanes issue? As the server has all other slots full.

Hi everyone,

I have a swift question regarding the PCIe x24 slots on the S2600GZ or S2600GL boards. I would like to know if it is possible to place regular PCIe x1, x4, x8 and x16 cards directly into the x24 riser slots (without the risers, as they are currently not available).

Many thanks in advance,

Add additional Fans to P4000XXSFDR

Simple question!

With the system set to performance (S1200SPL board), the fans are quite loud.

Does anyone know if I can add additional fans to the P4000XXSFDR chassis?  The MoBo supports additional fans and I would like the system to stay cooler and not spin up the fans so often.

thanks,

S2600KPR: BMC FW Problems

$

I wanted to ask you about the Motherboard “S2600KPR” and some problems that I am facing with the new Firmware version .

With the latest FW version[1] I am getting this error message,

“Your session has expired due to inactivity. You will need to login again”

And with the old one that came with the Hardware [2] it is working flawless.

If I downgrade to 1.43 it works again. Is this a known issue?

I have also another question about BMCs and Ciphers.

Why do the BMC just works with CIPHERS 1? We would like to work with Cipher3 like we do with other products.

See,

Reset Raid-Controller RS2BL080

$

Hi,

Short story: I would like to reset my raid controller Intel RS2BL080 with attached battery pack.

Long story: I'm running an Intel server board S5520HC (2x HexCore Xeon E5645) using an Intel chassis SC5650DP and the above mentioned raid ctrl RS2BL080.

I've flashed the latest available raid bios and updated all of the board's firmware, like BIOS, FRU, BMC, SDR and more.

The controller once had four SAS drives attached. Running two Raid level 1. One drive crashed and I had to replace it.

I did not replace it with another SAS harddisk but removed both drives completely and attached two SATA drives. The raid controller is capable of handling SAS and SATA drives, of course.

After cold booting the server I pressed CTRL+G to enter the raid bios to configure a new raid.

First I was told, during bootup, that there is a raid configuration mismatch and I could continue pressing C. Ok I did this but to no avail.

I could enter the raid bios weeks before to configure both raid using CTRL+G. Again a few days before CTRL+G jumped at least to the graphical interface where I could select the controller, however this failed, because I could not use the keyboard nor the mouse pointer to proceed.

Today at the stage of entering the raid configuration, I now see a black screen - nothing more. The graphical interface I saw a few days before disappeared and even waiting for half an hour did not succeed.

I had a look into the controller manual and noticed there is a reset pin available JT9. Hence I shutted down the server, added a jumper to this pin and restarted, thought this would do a hard reset of the controller.

After a while nothing happened as well. Don't know if this is the correct procedure to reset the controller or not. The manual does not mention this either.

Question is: Did anybody encounter the same happening when entering the controller BIOS and how do I reset the controller assuming this would resolve this annoying error?

Thanks,

Michael
