SC5400LX - SROMBSAS18E - F/W is in Fault State

Hi,

I have a SC5400LX Intel System with a SROMBSAS18E installed (AXXRAK18E Key). The raid card is connected to a 6-Drive Hot-Swap Expander Kit (AXX6DRV3GEXP) and a 4-Drive Hot-Swap Expander Kit (AXX4DRV3GEXP).

After doing firmware and bios upgrades on the system, that included pretty much all components (bios,bmc,fru/sdr,raid,hsc and rmm), i got the following message when the raid card was initializing:

F/W is in Fault State

Adapter at Baseport B8A0h is not responding

No MegaRAID Adapter Installed

To solve this i have tried moving the card to a different PCIe slot and doing performing a special firmware flash with "-AdpM0Flash" command. According to it, the command was completed succesfully. Tried flashing it with the latest firmware version and a older one with the same results.

Any ideia if theres a way to solve this error?

Thanks!

Some general debugging help needed, W2600CR

Hello friends, over the past few months I've been trying to get this new build to work but nothing seems to work and the lack of debug output doesn't help.

But after purchasing an internal VGA to normal VGA adapter on ebay for $30 (as there was no video out using a PCIe card) I've managed to confirm the BIOS version and that it supports the CPUs. But also that it never gets past the identification screen.

The system LED goes from solid green, to flashing green, to flashing amber, and finally solid amber. Only the LSB is set for the POST debug LEDs which doesn't tell me anything. http://download.intel.com/support/motherboards/server/sb/g34153004_s2600ip_w2600cr_tps_rev14.pdf The solid amber erros are listed as follows:

  • "CPU CATERR signal asserted" - I have no idea how to check this.
  • "MSID mismatch detected (CATERR also asserts for this case)" - No idea what this is.
  • "CPU 1 is missing." - CPU 1 is installed, tested with both single and dual CPU configurations.
  • "CPU Thermal Trip." - Unlikely, using a pretty big heatsink and good ventilation.
  • "No power good – power fault." - No idea what this means.
  • "DIMM failure when there is only 1 DIMM present and hence no good memory present." - Tested with both single and 4 DIMM modules.
  • "Runtime memory uncorrectable error in non - redundant mode1" - No idea how to check.
  • "DIMM Thermal Trip or equivalent" - Unlikely, good ventilation.
  • "SSB Thermal Trip or equivalent" - Unlikely, good ventilation.
  • "CPU ERR2 signal asserted" - No idea how to check.
  • "BMC/Video memory test failed. (Chassis ID shows blue/solid - on for this condition)" - Chassis LED is not lit.
  • "Both uBoot BMC FW images are bad. (Chassis ID shows blue/solid on for this condition)" - Chassis LED is not lit.
  • "240VA fault" - I have no idea what this is.

My system configuration are as follows:

Board: W2600CR (PBA: G59236-301)

BIOS: SE5C600.86B.02.05.0004

Memory: 4x4Gb Registered ECC PC3-10600

CPU: Dual E5-2660v2

PSU: Corsair AX1200 (No PMBus)

Bootable media: A 16Gb USB3 flashdrive, a 60Gb Samsung Evo SSD and an old 640Gb 2.5" HDD, each with Debian installed.

Hopefully you guys can explain what some of these possible errors mean and how I can debug them further.

modular server - modules can't see storage but no errors

Today I rebooted my modular server.

After booting up all modules tried to boot from pxe because no drives were present.

In the managment console you can see all virtual discs correctly configured and working. All virtual drives are assigned but when you look in the Bios or the Raid-Controller Software there are no drives connected.

Even new created and assigned Virtual Storages won't show up on the Compute Nodes.

The Management Console shows no errors and all self tests light up green.

Is there something I missed or something I could try?

How can I find out what part is not working correctly if all systems report to be working?

Thank you in advance.

S1600 Jackson Pass 4 - Static IP address keeps disappearing

Hi,

I have an issue with a S1600JP4 motherboard where the static IP address keeps disappearing. All four ports can link up just fine but could only ping for a certain amount of time before the IP address disappears. This issue keep persisting even after I reassign it with a different IP address. The harddrive and CPU has been swapped but it didn't resolve the issue.

Any ideas to solve this issue?

Thanks!

S5000XALR status light blinking green power button dissabled

Hello I recently bought a S5000XALR motherboard and I have installed it into a 4u chassis with no special features, just an on/off and reset switch, 3 leds, and 2 usb ports. I have added 4 8gb FBDIMMS and 4 4gb FBDIMMS for the memory and 2 intel Xeon X5470 processors. When I plug in the power cord all the fans, 3 sys fans, 2 cpu fans, and the power supply fan all spin and the status light starts to blink the green and amber then goes to a steady green for a few seconds and starts to blink green meaning there is a degrate somewhere. The power button on the control remains disabled and the fans keep spinning. I have tried to use only 2 sticks of memory and even one and changed the ones I was using to check if there might be a problem with one of them. I have tried using only one processor and tried each by it's self. I have tried unhooking all hard drives and cd's and even the 2 usbs on the case. When I start with no processor in I get the beeping, but when I start with no ram in I don't get the beeping that Intel has to;d me I should be getting without memory, and the status light still stays blinking green instead of the solid amber it should be. I have also tried using 2 different processors to no avail. any thoughts on to where I should go from here with the trouble shooting would be very much appreciated. This is the second  S5000XALR I have bought the first blew a transistor when I plugged it in I'm just hoping this isn't another bad board.

Thank You again

and like always stay safe and have fun

Xeon Phi as part of RDP Session-Host

Hi,

I am very interested in Intel’s new Xeon Phi Coprocessors. We are an education company and we are planning to change a large amount of student’s workplaces from FAT- to Thin-Clients.

This will cause much server load so I was thinking whether the Phi Coprocessors are suitable as part in a Session-Host to manage a large amount of RDP session.

Because there are only few reports about this technology until now I would like to ask if there are any experience or opinions about this task here.

With best regards,

S2600WTTR - Redundant PSUs fail when power is lost to UPS

We have a brand new S2600WTTR 2U rack mount server w/ 2 redundant PSUs. Each is connected to a 1500 UPS along w/ other equipment in the server rack (other Servers, Router Switches, NAS...) if power fails to a UPS the PSU looses power, LED turns Amber, while the other equipment remains operating. Both PSUs exhibit this behavior, and if there is a total power loss the server crashes. Tried on different USPs (4 in the Rack), even depopulated the UPS so the server is the only device connected. Is there a required power level that these PSUs need to remain active?

S2600CP motherboard + P3600 SSD?

$

I own a S2600CP board with 2x Xeon's on it. It has the newest BIOS package upgrade (BIOS : 02.06.0002 - ME : 02.01.07.328 - BMC : 01.25.9398 - FRUSDR : 1.11)

Now I have gotten a good offer for an Intel P3600 SSD that I wanna use on that board.

I wanna check if I can boot off this SSD card?

I ask because there is this possible issue with NVMe and booting off those.

If not, I won't get the P3600 and just continue to boot off a SSD in a Sata 6Gbps port like I do now.

I do not have access to a free P3x00 card that I can test with, so I need to know for sure the card will work on that board before I proceed.

Booting from DC P3700 on older server

Hello,

I have an Intel SR2612URR server with a S5520UR board and a passive riser (along with the latest BIOS and BMC). Installed are two Xeon E5504 and 16 GB of registered memory.

I purchased a DC P3700 SSD for it and installed Windows Server 2012R2 with the intention of booting from it. However, while the installation went fine (after disconnecting the other drives and enabling EFI optimized boot), the drive is not detected in the BIOS and the server won't boot from it. The only entries in the boot menu are network boot, the EFI shell, and Windows Boot Manager (which does not work when selected). I there any way to boot from the drive or any options for it to be recognized in the BIOS?

Thank you for helping; it is an old server, but it will be a few more years before an upgrade and this will help speed it up!

S2600GZ Build - not booting

$

Hello all -

I bought an S2600GZ motherboard a few weeks ago, and while it has failed, I have reinstalled the replacement Intel sent to me. The board does power on, and I am able to get a solid green LED after the fan in the PSU spins up, which is farther than I got with the previous (broken) board. The problem arises when I try to power on the system (crossing the power button and ground jumpers), as the indicator LED goes to solid amber, and the speaker beeps approximately twice per second. No video is shown either through the onboard VGA or through an external GPU. I don't have any fans currently plugged in, as I'm testing the system with passive cooling only. The system is not installed in a server chassis, thus no chassis intrusion header/chassis fans are plugged in. System specs posted below. I am able to unplug the system and get to this step again. Any help?

C2600CWT drivers Win7/2008R2

Hi! Got a C2600CWT Board and installed Win 2012R2 on it. Now I added a Win 7 and Win 2008R2 Hyper-V VM on it and can't find the right drivers for it. So many question marks in the device manager...

And the Chipset driver for Windows 7 gives a "unknown error".

What am I doing wrong here? Or is it simply not supported?

Looking forward to your suggestions!

windows server 2012 R2 fails to load in UEFI mode on S5520HC

$

I am attempting to install Windows Server 2012 R2 in EFI mode on an Intel S5520HC for a client. I have updated the BIOS, FRU, BMC and SDR. I have the BIOS set to EFI Optimized boot. I am booting from the optical media in UEFI. The OS sees the RAID Array, writes the partition information to the array and then locks up.

Things I have attempted:

I have pulled the RAID card and attempted to load the OS onto a single HDD plugged directly into the SATA 0 port in UEFI mode, same result.

I have run Memtest 4.20 for 3 days w/o errors.

I loaded the OS onto the array on an Intel S3420GP in EFI mode w/o a problem and then tried to move the array into the S5520HC. The system attempts to boot. It gets to the splash screen where it attempts to load the system drivers and then locks up.

I have attempted to load Server 2012 and 08R2 in hopes I could run 2012R2 as an upgrade once a stable OS was in place. Same lockup problem for those OS in EFI mode.

I have checked the approved OS table for this Mobo and I admit that the only EFI specific OS is Server 08 (not R2).

Is there anything I have not tried to achieve my ends?

Any constructive input is appreciated.

Thank you.

S2600GL4 Baseboard voltage

Hi everyone,

I acquired an Intel S2600GL4 motherboard and it works okay, I can boot the machine to an OS, the BMC works fine but I get a non-critical error after the POST.

Through the BMC I can see that the issue is with  "BB +1.35 P1LV CD"  sensor reading and instead of having 1.35V it outputs 1.525V.

I was wondering if anybody had an idea why this was happening? I checked the manual from top to bottom and couldn't see much information at all about the error codes. Is that a misconfiguration on my end or a fault with the motherboard?

Best regards
