Hello,

I've encountered the memory problem on Intel S2600CWTSR with SKhynix 64GB 4DRx4 PC4-2400T-LE1-11 modules.

The memory is listed at THOL:

SKhynix

Memory

HMAA8GL7MMR4N-UH

64GB (1X64GB) LRDIMM, DDR4, 4 Rank, 2400MHz, x4

Active

Single memory modules were attached to the first memory slot (DIMM A1). Already tried several sticks.

Unfortunately, during boot process 3x beeps occurs and the system hangs at message "Chipset Initialization complete. No error found."

Help Please, Intel S2600CW2R, Windows Server 2016, UEFI Boot

$

First off, I apologize for being a noob.  I'm still trying to figure out what questions to ask to get the info I need.

I'm building an Intel Server with the S2600CW2R board, Intel RS3DC080 Raid, and 4- 4tb sas drives in RAID5.

I'm trying to UEFI boot and Install Windows Server 2016.  And I've run into some problems and questions.

1.     The server, even when set into UEFI in the BIOS, just doesn't want to UEFI boot from the Server Install DVD.  I'm using a standard dvd-rom connected via SATA to the motherboard set to AHCI.  I've tried RAID mode as well with similar results.  Even what I manually select the boot device from the boot menu, UEFI isn't an option.  I'm probably missing some step, configuration, or some nerd knob somewhere that needs turning.  I'm sure someone has made this work at some point, can y'all clue me in on what configuration I need to be looking at?  Or at least point me in the right direction please.

2.     Backup & Restore - This is more a Windows question but it falls in line with the first one.  In Windows Server 2016, does the backup and restore support UEFI, GPT, and large 4TB - 36TB RAID arrays?  I've faced issues with 2008 & 2012 with disk/volume size limitations but haven't been working with 2016 enough to know what limitations are still in place.  I've seen issues with Windows 10, UEFI, GPT, and Image Restorations failing.  I'm curious with Server 2016 is plagued with the same problems and how y'all are dealing with them.

Thank you all for your time and assistance.

Fan tachometer reading of 0 RPM although fans are spinning, results in critical alert

$

Hello,

I have a problem with the server mainboard S1200SPL.

Quick information about the setup:

  • board resides in a non Intel chassis
  • 2 chassis fans (PWM)
  • 1 cpu fan (PWM)
  • BIOS, FRU and SDR are up-to-date
  • SDR was configured with other chassis option, fan 3 and 4 installed, also CPU fan installed option
  • Fans are set to acoustic mode in BIOS

Problem description:

  • all fans are marked as critical in the web frontend (red)
  • diagnostic lights blinking amber
  • fan speed reading of all three fans is 0 RPM
  • but all three fans are actually spinning at a low level

What I did so far:

  • changed values in SDR file and uploaded them to mainboard
  • "SDR Type C0/0A Records For Fan Sensor Scaling", section "OTHER"
    • values for fan 3 and 4 changed from 25000 RPM (hex: A861) to 1000 RPM (hex: E803) and 1500 RPM (hex: DC05), that are the new max values
    • value for processor fan changed from 25000 RPM (hex: A861) to 1900 RPM (hex: 6C07), that is the new max value
  • "Fan tachometer sensors", "OTHER" sections
    • "OTHER_FAN_3"
      • M=04h
      • Nominal Reading=80h (500 RPM)
      • Normal Minimum=7Ch (490 RPM)
      • Lower critical = 00h
      • Lower non-critical = 02h
    • "OTHER_FAN_4"
      • M=06h
      • Nominal Reading=7Fh (750 RPM)
      • Normal Minimum=66h (600 RPM)
      • Lower critical = 00h (0 RPM)
      • Lower non-critical = 11h (12 RPM)
    • "OTHER_PROC_FAN"
      • M=07h
      • Nominal Reading=49h (550 RPM)
      • Normal Minimum=43h (500 RPM)
      • Lower critical = 2Fh (350 RPM)
      • Lower non-critical = 35h (400 RPM)

The values of fan 4 were set to nearly 0 to test if the critical alert will go away, but it didn't. Sometimes fan 4 reports a valid RPM value of 400 RPM and status gets to normal. The fans are spinning in a slow mode so that the whole system is very quiet :-).

Questions:

  • are the fan readings influenced by some other values directly or indirectly in the SDR file, for example "Domain/Profile Dependent RECORDS" or the curves?
  • can the fan readings be fixed somehow?

A bit history: the chassis that I bought came with 3 3-pin-only-fans, that spinned up to 100%. The cpu fan was always a 4-pin fan. Before I changed the numbers in the SDR file the 3 chassis fans got a valid rpm read, but the cpu fan did not. After setting the values in the SDR file, the cpu got also a valid RPM value, but the chassis fans were spinning at 100%. I decided to exchange two of the chassis fan through 4-pin fans. The third chassis fan is disabled now. After placing the new fans in, all rpm values were set to 0 RPM and the status became critical although all fans are actually spinning. and the max rpm values are the same as before After that I lowered the critical values for the chassis fans but without any success.

Intel S2600cw2r not detecting GTX 1080Ti

$

So I'm building a deep learning machine with 1 Xeon e5-2620v4 and 2 gtx 1080ti on top of an Intel S2600CW2R server board..

I bought it at a local store, and ask them to assemble my system. When it arrived, the system won't even POST or giving me any output on the display, just blank(tried to plug the cable to the GPU card and the onboard connector, results are the same). After doing some research, I found that the local store misplaced the GPU on the wrong PCIe slot. I fix this, get the system POST, and the display works(plugged the display cable to the onboard display connector) and install ubuntu 16.04 server.

After that, I tried to "lspci | grep NVIDIA" and the output gave me nothing. So I thought it must be the drivers that need to be installed. I installed the "nvidia-381" package from "ppa:graphics-drivers/ppa", reboot the system, tried to "lspci | grep NVIDIA" again, still nothing. Then I tried " nvidia-smi" but the output says ""NVIDIA-SMI has failed because it couldn't communicate with the NVIDIA driver. Make sure that the latest NVIDIA driver is installed and running"

So I jump into conclusion that somehow, the motherboard cannot detect any of the plugged GPU card. How can I resolve this issue ? Have anybody encountered the same issue ? If it's a hardware failure, i just want to be sure..

Note:

  • I Tried to plug the display cable into one of the GPU card, blank screen.
  • Already checked the BIOS setup, "Add-in Display" option greyed out.
  • Tried the GPU on another system, work like a charm
  • Tried to boot from legacy mode and UEFI mode, results nothing.
  • Tried to update the BIOS firmware, still no results.
  • I'm aware of the trickiness on how the PCIe lane works on this particular platform(LGA2011). The datasheet mentioned that the PCI/e slot 1 - 2 are linked to CPU2 socket, and PCI/e slot 3-6 are bound to CPU1 socket. Therefore, if I want to plug my GPU1 on PCIe slot 1 and GPU2 on PCIe slot 4, I must have 2 CPUs installed
  • Not just the GTX 1080Ti, I've also tried to plug an Nvidia Tesla P4, and the board not detect it either.

S1200BTL Strange Behavior

Hi Everyone,

I used to have an Intel board s1200BTS and I was using an E31265LV2 and Kingston KVR13E9/8HM with it and everything was running fine.

That board died on me and decided to buy a replacement from eBay as I wanted to keep the same server running with the same components but I bought an s1200BTL instead.

In theory, they should be both compatible with the same components as they are from the same family. However, when I use the same processor E31265LV2 along with the same Memory KVR13E9/8HM, I get a 1-5-4-2 beep code and the board keeps resetting with no output on the screen.

Now the new BTL board came with another processor 1220V2, but when I use it with KVR13E9/8HM, the board does not boot either and the status LED keeps blinking orange but no beep codes.

Has anyone faced a similar issue or can explain what's happening?

Thanks

Omar

RAID module RMS25JB080 ESXi drivers

Hi

cant find the VMWare ESXi drivers for the RMS25JB080 RAID module? (it will be in an S1200SPOR board which is fully VMWare supported)

Ive had some real major issues with ALL RAID board with ESXi, the only way to get them to fully work is to install the below:

RAID drivers, AND the SMIS drivers, with both install the module will show up in the ESXi vSphere console with what drive is attached to which connector on the board.

Also should allow for the Intel RAID configuration tool to connect to the board when its running ESXi to configure it, check drive status via the ESXi management IP address.  This has been a MAJOR MAJOR issue for LSI / AVAGO / BROADCOM (what ever there calling themselves now-a-days) RAID cards, i have the drivers here for them now so i dont need to go hunting for them.

However i have never done ESXi for Intel RAID cards yet (as there not really LSI / AVAGO / BROADCOM cards now... there a hybrid version.

Many Thanks.

Problem with RS3WC080 Raidcontroller

Mainboard: SC2600CP2R mainboard with 2 Xeon CPU's and 128 GB Ram, latest firmware, works perfekt.

RaidControler: RS3WC080 with 4x1TB Seagate Intel-certificated SAS Drives, latest firmware.

i am able to create a virtual device (raid-5 array with state optimal, 3 x 1 TB + 1 hotspare), but can't declare as boot-device, boot device is always "none".

This happens in boot-mode legacy (configuration with CTRL-R) and in boot.mode UEFI (configuration over PCI-Configuration -> UEFI Option Rom Control -> Storage Controler)

Installation of VMWARE 6.5 or Windows Server 2016 stops with "no boot device found"

I spend a lot of time, but can't find any error.

I would be very happy if somebody can help me

S1200V3RP won't boot past BIOS identification

I'm having trouble booting a S1200V3RP server board with a Core i3-4130T installed.

It doesn't sound any beep codes, and generates video as far as displaying the following:

Version 2.14.1219.Copyright(c) American Megatrends, Inc

Installed BIOS: S1200RP.86B.03.01.0002

Platform ID: S1200RPS

After a few seconds, the status LED on the motherboard begins flashing orange. The diagnostic LEDs show a code of 00101011 which doesn't appear to be documented (it was mentioned in another thread here, but never resolved).

CPU is a Core i3-4130T which appears to be fully supported with this board and BIOS. Both board and CPU are new.

I have tried three different RAM modules that should all be supported, and have installed in slot A1 for troubleshooting.

Removing the RAM generates a three-beep error code as expected; likewise, removing the CPU generates 1-5-2-1.

Can anyone provide further troubleshooting advice? Thank you in advance.

2 S5500BC Server Boards Both Producing DIMM B1 Uncorrectable ECC Errors

$

Hi,

I'm building a Windows Server 2012 R2 system using some existing server parts that we have available. I started with one S5500BC board and added the required hardware, which is an LSI 9260-8i card (this card was already in a number of old servers we have with the same board and worked fine) and I've added an Intel I350-T4 network card and a 2 port USB 3 card. I have done the exact same upgrades / additions to 2 other servers based on the same S5500BC boards and Server 2012 R2 and neither of those other 2 servers have any issues.

So with this build, the server lost power 2 nights in a row, windows just logging the standard 'kernel power' error, which is as if the plug was pulled (but it wasn't). After the second night of this I installed the Intel ASC and it told me there was an uncorrectable ECC issue in dim slot B1. I powered down the server and moved the RAM about and it still reported the same error in the same slot. I did this a couple of times to be sure and it always reported DIMM slot B1 as the problem, regardless of what stick was in it. I took this to mean that the motherboard itself was faulty so I replaced the whole board with another S5500BC we have spare. This is a working board that also (like the first one) has never given any reason to believe there are any problems with it.

After putting the second board in, I ran the ASC again and the same B1 error was present. I thought the may be the ASC calling up the old logs so I uninstalled and reinstalled it, and the memory error was gone. I checked it after around 12 hours of the server running and this remained the same. However a couple of nights ago the server again 'lost power' or just shut down ungracefully. I check the ASC again, and the same B1 error is back! On a completely different board.

What could be going on here? I quite urgently need to get this server stable. I have tried to update the firmwares using the S5500BC_BIOS63_BMC61_FRUSDR22_ME112 package, I ran the one boot windows flash utility (v9.7 build 21) pointing to the extracted location using the following command:

flashupdt -u C:\TempPath

But I get the following:

Update file configuration: XXX S5500BC,1.0

*ERROR* BMC responded with incompatible values

Could anyone please help? The only thing that is different about this server to the other 2 that are stable is that this one has 8 drives instead of 6. But it had 8 drives anyway during it's previous installation and there were no issues... ??

Thanks.

S2600CP very loud fan

I have Intel Server Board S2600CP in Intel Server Chassis P4000S with 5 fan coolers. Server two year worked correctly. But, one weak ago, 5 fan coolers started working too fast and too load. Installed one processor - Xeon E5-2603, and her temperature about 30 C.

I upgrade BIOS on last firmware: BIOS - 02.06.0005, ME - 02.01.07.328, BMC - 01.27.9958, FRUSDR - 1.11. During upgrade i set Chassis serial number, Chassis part number, System serial number and System part number correctly.

In BIOS settings set parameters: Set Throttling Mode - [Auto], Altitude -[300m or less], Set Fan Profile - [Acoustic]. For tests i set various parameters in BIOS, but 5 fan coolers worked very fast and very load all time.

Ask me please, how to diagnostic and correctly configure my server.

Thanks.

Dear Intel Support,

My system has following configuration: Mainboard S2600CW2R, Chassis P4304XXMUXX with two PSUs FXX750PCRPS, two CPUs Xeon E5-2637V4, Memory 8 modules each 16GB, one SSD DC S3520 Series 480GB, one HDD Seagate 3.5" 8TB ST8000NM0045 and Graphic Card ASUS GTX 1080 Ti.

OS: Windows 10 Pro. All firmware was initially updated to the newest version.

System works properly, passes all tests, OS boots and runs OK.

When starts 3D modelling software Bentley Context Capture and Graphic Card is in full load, system is suddenly shutting down with beep code 1-5-4-2.

PSUs are in FULLY_REDUNDANT state.

Looks like insufficient PSU resources.

"S2600CW_H56450_P4304XXMXXX_power budget_tool R1.1" tells that there is enough PSU resources: System Totals: 647W; Power Supply Limits: 750W.

Could you please advise me what the possible cause of system shut down and which actions to be taken to resolve situation?

Maybe to set PSUs in NON_REDUNDANT state to gain available power resources?

But I've found none information in a lot of manuals available how can I make it.

Thanks in advance.

Why are the fans running high?  No lights on by the fans are on and the power supplies lights are green.

This was running fine last week.  Tried update the firmware/BIOS to 02060006 and problem remains.

The logs indicate various issues of the PS1 & PS2 not having enough voltage then they are fine; CPU #2 is not connected; Fans are not redundant.   What is the real issue here?

Update:

I have this problem on Servers with Vmware installed / also on Systems with Windows - Do i need to check some Bios Settings ?

If the Server stands on BIOS Screen and you connect the USB Disk, also a power fault occure and the server restarts...

Any ideas ? any help is appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Fan tachometer reading of 0 RPM although fans are spinning, results in critical alert

Hello,

I have a problem with the server mainboard S1200SPL.

Quick information about the setup:

  • board resides in a non Intel chassis
  • 2 chassis fans (PWM)
  • 1 cpu fan (PWM)
  • BIOS, FRU and SDR are up-to-date
  • SDR was configured with other chassis option, fan 3 and 4 installed, also CPU fan installed option
  • Fans are set to acoustic mode in BIOS

Problem description:

  • all fans are marked as critical in the web frontend (red)
  • diagnostic lights blinking amber
  • fan speed reading of all three fans is 0 RPM
  • but all three fans are actually spinning at a low level

What I did so far:

  • changed values in SDR file and uploaded them to mainboard
  • "SDR Type C0/0A Records For Fan Sensor Scaling", section "OTHER"
    • values for fan 3 and 4 changed from 25000 RPM (hex: A861) to 1000 RPM (hex: E803) and 1500 RPM (hex: DC05), that are the new max values
    • value for processor fan changed from 25000 RPM (hex: A861) to 1900 RPM (hex: 6C07), that is the new max value
  • "Fan tachometer sensors", "OTHER" sections
    • "OTHER_FAN_3"
      • M=04h
      • Nominal Reading=80h (500 RPM)
      • Normal Minimum=7Ch (490 RPM)
      • Lower critical = 00h
      • Lower non-critical = 02h
    • "OTHER_FAN_4"
      • M=06h
      • Nominal Reading=7Fh (750 RPM)
      • Normal Minimum=66h (600 RPM)
      • Lower critical = 00h (0 RPM)
      • Lower non-critical = 11h (12 RPM)
    • "OTHER_PROC_FAN"
      • M=07h
      • Nominal Reading=49h (550 RPM)
      • Normal Minimum=43h (500 RPM)
      • Lower critical = 2Fh (350 RPM)
      • Lower non-critical = 35h (400 RPM)

The values of fan 4 were set to nearly 0 to test if the critical alert will go away, but it didn't. Sometimes fan 4 reports a valid RPM value of 400 RPM and status gets to normal. The fans are spinning in a slow mode so that the whole system is very quiet :-).

Questions:
