RMM 3 command line status check

$

I've got a few devices that have RMM loaded.  I know it's an intel rmm and pretty sure it's RMM3.

What I don't know is what is the IP of the device and how to get it from just the command line.

I can get RMM3 to work on a few devices because I know the RMM IP.  I was given the RMM IP to the other boxes but when I try it either times our or gives me an error or sends me to some default page.

I have CLI access to all the devices and have tried using the mmconfig (all linux) and it's not working.  I thought I noticed another command but wasn't able to try it due to a forced reboot on my windows box but can't remember where I saw it.

I think the CLI instances (linux) are barebones so after the RMM3 was installed all access to the commands may have been removed.  I tried looking for them in the /usr/local/somewhere/somewhere folder and didn't find it.  I haven't attempted to actually find the file.

I would like to know if there is a way to use basic linux commands without having to download anything and list the RMM status of each device at least the IP.

Any assistance would be helpful.

Thanks

S1200V3RPL: "bmclibinitialized returned failed" after BMC update to 01.12.7499

I updated an S1200V3RPL board to the latest BMC release 1.12.7499 via UEFI using the software provided by this link: Intel® Download Center  [1]

After the update, I wanted to change the SDR. Because [1] did not contain an SDR update utility, I tried to re-use the UEFI utility updFRUSDR.nsh provided by this link: Intel® Download Center [2]. However, the SDR update failed with a "bmclibinitialized returned failed" error after loading "ipmi.efi". Trying to downgrade the BMC firmware back to the previous version 01.12.6784 (using updBMC.nsh from [2]) again failed with the same error.

I could downgrade the BMC firmware to version 01.12.6784 by writing BMC_i_0112r6784.bin from [2| with the fwpiaupd.efi utility from [1]. However, this had no effect on the aforementioned error, i.e. re-running updFRUSDR.nsh from [2| still failed with the same error.

How do I downgrade properly to a BMC firmware where updFRUSDR.nsh from [2] can run successfully? If this is not possible, is there another way to write the SDR with the 01.12.7499 BMC firmware applied?

Thank you,

Christian

Teaming NIC PRO 1000/MT in windows Server 2008 R2

The Intel PRO 1000/MT has (today ?) no "full support" in Windows Server 2008 R2 ; that is : each NIC est recognized by OS and functionnal, but we can't built a team, because  Intel Advanced Network Software (ANS) is not available.

More, on my DELL PowerEdge 2850 (with 4 PRO 1000/MT), no PCI-express slot, then i can't install more recent NIC which has full support (like 1000/PT).

A server hardware with server software and with server NICs but no server teaming functionality ?

Does it means I have to replace all my Intel NIC with Broadcom NIC which has teaming support in 2008 R2 ?

Thanks for your help

Hi

Please can someone help I have a Server which has been working for about three running a S5000psl board for years with no problems.

Recently 2 of the drive no longer being used were removed from the server and it now no longer wants to boot.

When we power up the fans spin and the LED flash a couple of different combinations but always finish on the same MSB amber and LSB red status light flashing green.

Have tried resetting BIOS to default I have removed all non essential add-on cards have tried with 1 x processor and minimal Ram but know difference.

If I completely remove the RAM i get beeps from the board so board seems ok. tested processor in another server they are working and RAM.

Thanks

VDs on S1200BTL & Windows 7

$

Hello,

My end goal is this: Set up RAID 10 on 4 HDDs with Windows 7 Pro.

This is similar to this post, but I'm having trouble implementing the answer.  Here is the situation:

System: P4303BTLSHCN

Board: S1200BTL

OS: Windows 7 Professional, 64-bit

Drives: Four (4) 2TB hard drives (& one DVD-ROM)

Bottom line: How do I finish with Win 7, RAID 10, and 4 TB storage, accessible through Windows?

Sticking points: Windows partition capabilities, RAID restrictions, virtual drive creation/modification . . .

More background:

The aforementioned post says to make a smaller virtual drive and install Windows on that.  I'm using two utilities in trying to create such a partition, and a third trying to set up RAID:

  1. Intel Embedded RAID II Configuration Utility (Ctrl+E)
  2. GParted Live
  3. Intel Server Board S1200BT Family Server Deployment Toolkit 4.0 (bootable CD G20500-002)

Toolkit CD only offers low-level RAID, so I've mostly been ignoring that.  If I create the partitions in GParted, I don't see any recognition of them in the Configuration Utility.  If I create a virtual drive (tried 25 and 50 GB) in the Configuration Utility, it only allows RAID 0 for the small one, and then restricts the RAID level for the larger drives.  In addition to just making one small partition and having the rest go more or less automatically, I've tried making 8 partitions/VDs (one small & one large on each drive) so as to keep all the same size for RAID, but that doesn't seem to matter.  If I go straight to configuring RAID 10 without any prior divisions, it doesn't allow me to alter the size of the resulting drive.

Earlier in this process I set up RAID 10, installed Windows, and found only 2 TB available (on the C drive, with no other drives visible).  During startup it listed the drives and recognized RAID 10 implemented.  I checked BIOS and Config Utility settings.  The other post appeared to be essentially the same situation, which is why I'm trying to make a boot partition.  I've also tried advanced options on the Windows install, but apparently it can't handle more than 2 TB.  When I did have Windows installed (with all updates), I tried everything I could manage on the Toolkit CD, Intel System Management Software (G10627-002) CD, and driver program available from downloadcenter.intel.com.

Fortunately all of the drives are new so I can format them all I want.  For various reasons I'm trying to keep to Windows as the final OS, but I'm happy to use Linux in the process--but I can't claim to be an expert at it.  My tech knowledge is well above average, but everything I know is only what I've (taught myself to be able to get) done.  If you tell me to do some standard operation, if I don't know it I can ask Google.  I just need a direction to look.

Thanks very much.

Intel SS4200-E - 4 drives failed after power outage - help me get my data back

I've got an Intel easynas 4200-E  with 4 1.5TB disks in it in a RAID5.

Today we had a power outage,  but the NAS stayed on during the brief outage,  as it was connected to a UPS.

When I came and checked my computer, the NAS had an Orange button in the middle of the blue drive buttons and I was unable to access the console.  It was locked up and no lights were flashing.

I finally pushed the button on the front to get it to shut down.  after a bit it finally shut itself down, and when it rebooted,  all four drive lights flashed briefly and then all lights turned orange.

in the console it tells me all 4 drives have data on them that needs to be overwritten, and wants me to click a link to authorize overwriting the data.

I looked on the web and found several people have had this issue.  I have tried unplugging each drive 1 at a time and powering up,  but with each drive it just says my data is unavailable.  each of the drives show up when they are plugged in, so I don't think any of them are bad,  but there isn't one obvious bad drive.

I have also tried the factory reset as listed in my guide, but that didn't do anything either.

HELP!  I have a bunch of digital pictures on there that I can't lose.  I had set up  a Second Intel Nas and was in the middle of mirroring them when this happened. The other Nas is running fine but I only have about 1 TB out of the 3.2 TB total.

Any ideas will help, I'm desperate.

Thanks.

Matt

Intel Active System Console and Windows Server 2008 R2 Hyper-V Core

Dear Intel Community,

We've taken on a new client that has existing Intel Hardware, which has Windows Server 2008 R2 Hyper-V Core Edition installed. I would like to get Intel Active System Console running in this environment however I'm not familiar with Hyper-V Core and it's abilities. I understand that Hyper-V Core is Windows Server without the GUI but I've not yet got the software to work.

I've managed to install the software through command prompt however when you attempt to run the software it will not load, Has anyone been successful with installing this product in this environment?

Thanks

intel RST raid 1 preserve data greyed out

Hello, at the moment i'm bit frustrated, my situation looks like this:

1. i had intel RST raid 1 (seagate 1TB constelletion x 2 ) setup (in bios set Raid and intel RST), raid 1 was working, but both DRIVES started to fail (realocated sector count and other smart errors).

2. I bought new 4TB seagate raid disks

3. I removed one old 1Tb hard drive and put in new 4TB hard drive and marked as spare, raid rebuilded with new and old drive

4. i removed 1Tb hard drive and resseted 4Tb drive from CTRL-I as non raid drive

5. i streched 4Tb raid drive to maximum in disk management (because it is MBR-NTFS not GPT it's not bigger than 2TB...), for now 2Tb enough later i will reinstall server to 4TB and GPT, but i dont know how to proceed...

6. i updated server firmware to latest (intel server board 1200bt), and the installed latest intel RST software.

what i wan't to accomplish is create RAID from intel RST raid 1 preserving data

intel_rst.JPG

but how You see this option is greyed out...

And here is screenshot of disk management (i deleted other backups disks to better understand):

disk_management.JPG

if anyone would advise me, what to do? How to build raid1 with preserving data?

Should i backup everthing and reinstall windows server with GPT partitions, and then how to restore everything as it was?

And here is screenshot from CTRL-I (it was taken before i upgraded intel RST software)

Hello,

I have a problem with my S3420GP Board by using M393B5170DZ1-CF8 RAM Modules. After Installing one or two RAM Modules I get 3 beeps, which indicates an incorrect RAM Configuration. By reading the compatibilty list (Intel® Server Board S3420GP — Memory and Hardware Compatibility) I found the module:

SamsungM393B5170DZ1-CF84 GBRegistered1066 MHzDualK4B1G0446D-HCF8SamsungN/A1.5 Volts

I have also installed the latest BIOS Update of 2014.

Any help?

RS2WC080 on DQ67SW

Hello everyone,

I have an Intel DQ67SW motherboard and an RS2WC080 raid card.  I have not used the raid card in over a year (it was properly stored back in it's original box/packaging. and was working fine with I last used it but I don't have the Supermicro board I had used this with any longer).  I took it out of storage and tried to build an ESXi 5.5 server but the card is not seen in BIOS (I don't even get the prompt to hit CTRL + G) and it's the same in windows.  I've put the card in the motherboards PCI-E x16 slot and I even put it into my PC with a Sabertooth Z77 mobo in a x8 slot (not sure if that's a good test at all).

Before I go out and get another HBA/raid card I want to know if there is any method to determine if the card is good or not.

Thank you for your help!

S2600CO4 with (2) E5-2643 not reporting processor thermal margin

I have two S2600CO4 boards and neither of them reports processor thermal margin sensors.

P1 Therm Margin  | na     | degrees C  | na| na    | na    | na    | na    | na    | na
P2 Therm Margin  | na     | degrees C  | na| na    | na    | na    | na    | na    | na
P1 Therm Ctrl %  | na     | percent| na| na    | na    | na    | 30.000| 50.000| na
P2 Therm Ctrl %  | na     | percent| na| na    | na    | na    | 30.000| 50.000| na

Nor do them report DIMM thermal margins

DIMM Thrm Mrgn 1 | na     | degrees C  | na| na    | na    | na    | 5.000 | 10.000| na
DIMM Thrm Mrgn 2 | na     | degrees C  | na| na    | na    | na    | 5.000 | 10.000| na
DIMM Thrm Mrgn 3 | na     | degrees C  | na| na    | na    | na    | 5.000 | 10.000| na
DIMM Thrm Mrgn 4 | na     | degrees C  | na| na    | na    | na    | 5.000 | 10.000| na

The end result is that all the fans in the system run at full RPM.  The system itself is fully functional otherwise.  BIOS is at version 2.04.0003, BMC is at 1.22.6890, ME is at 02.01.07.328 and FRU/SDR is at 1.12.  Update was done from the latest EFI package for the board.  The system event log has entries noting the processor thermal margin sensor failures.

I have reflashed all the images individually.  I have verified that the SDR table is getting updated -- I slightly changed the name of the processor thermal sensors and verified that the new name showed up in the the RMM sensor table as well as an "ipmitool sensor".

The system is in a non-Intel chassis.  Fans are connected for system fan 1-3, rear fan, and cpu fan 1 and 2.  When updating the FRU/SDR records, the update script properly identifies it as an "other" chassis and prompts me for the various fan connections.

I'm looking for suggestions on what I might be missing here.

S2600GZ undocumented LED diagnostic code?

$

We have four identical servers based on the S2600GZ board, three of which are running with the POST Code Diagnostic LEDs lit in the combination 1101(amber)0100(green), while the fourth one has all of them off.

That combination (D4h) is undocumented in the Technical Product Specification doc for the board, and I wonder what it could mean...  all three servers show up as healthy in the RMM4 web interface.

Thank you.
