Hi,

I bought S1200SPLR and Pentium G4560.
When starting with the minimum configuration, it does not start with the following message.

This CPU is not supported.
Update to the latest BIOS.

I thought that S1200SPL"R" supports G4560.
Why is such a message displayed?

It can not enter BIOS SETUP screen.
Should I update BIOS in BIOS RECOVERY mode?

Thank you very much for your help!

Intel SSD P3520 1.2TB

Hi,

Would an Intel SSD P3520 1.2TB drive - PCi-e 3.0 (4x) fit a 2U case and is it compatible with an intel 2600CW2S motherboard? I see the motherboard only has PCIe Gen III x8, and PCIe Gen III x16 slots.

In other words are PCIe Gen III x8 and PCIe Gen III x16 compatible (both technically and physically) with the lower speed PCIe Gen III x4 drive?

Also do I understand correctly that the form factor of the hard drive (HHHL (CEM2.0)) means it would be able to fit a 2U server?

Thanks in advance.

So! I know, this is an old board and interactive support has ended long ago, but if there is anybody out there who could give me some advice I'd really appreciate it.

So! I bought this board from a guy on my local buy/sell page, it came just bare. I got 32Gb of FB-DIMM DDR2-667, and two Xeon 5160s and two Xeon X5355s, checking the datasheet for the board to verify that they'll work. I drop in my ram, two CPUs, custom brackets for my Hyper 212 Evo coolers, hard drive, peripherals, and PSU. I turn it on by jumping the appropriate headers, it turns on for a second or so, fans turn, no post codes yet, and then it just quits. Shuts right off. Status LED stays solid green, no post codes happened at all, and no beep codes. Does it for both types of CPU I got. If I just put one CPU into the first socket, it works! Works well too. Posts, no issues, I install my OS, and I'm off to the races. Only half as fast as I could be.

So I start checking things:

  • I check both socket's pins, all perfect, not a single one out of line.
  • I check both CPUs, by putting one into the first socket, and booting, and then the other in the first socket, and it boots just fine, no codes.
  • I check if my PSU is going overcurrent, by putting an oscilloscope on the PS_ON pin and the 12v power rail to the CPU VRMs. PS_ON goes high (Shutting the PSU off) before the 12v power rail even twitches. It stays rock solid. It's the motherboard that's shutting itself off for sure.
  • I take out all the ram, peripherals, and fans. It'll still attempt to post without ram, but it'll fail. It still doesn't reach post, just quits.
  • Updated the BMC and BIOS, nope.

Fan tachometer reading of 0 RPM although fans are spinning, results in critical alert

Hello,

I have a problem with the server mainboard S1200SPL.

Quick information about the setup:

  • board resides in a non Intel chassis
  • 2 chassis fans (PWM)
  • 1 cpu fan (PWM)
  • BIOS, FRU and SDR are up-to-date
  • SDR was configured with other chassis option, fan 3 and 4 installed, also CPU fan installed option
  • Fans are set to acoustic mode in BIOS

Problem description:

  • all fans are marked as critical in the web frontend (red)
  • diagnostic lights blinking amber
  • fan speed reading of all three fans is 0 RPM
  • but all three fans are actually spinning at a low level

What I did so far:

  • changed values in SDR file and uploaded them to mainboard
  • "SDR Type C0/0A Records For Fan Sensor Scaling", section "OTHER"
    • values for fan 3 and 4 changed from 25000 RPM (hex: A861) to 1000 RPM (hex: E803) and 1500 RPM (hex: DC05), that are the new max values
    • value for processor fan changed from 25000 RPM (hex: A861) to 1900 RPM (hex: 6C07), that is the new max value
  • "Fan tachometer sensors", "OTHER" sections
    • "OTHER_FAN_3"
      • M=04h
      • Nominal Reading=80h (500 RPM)
      • Normal Minimum=7Ch (490 RPM)
      • Lower critical = 00h
      • Lower non-critical = 02h
    • "OTHER_FAN_4"
      • M=06h
      • Nominal Reading=7Fh (750 RPM)
      • Normal Minimum=66h (600 RPM)
      • Lower critical = 00h (0 RPM)
      • Lower non-critical = 11h (12 RPM)
    • "OTHER_PROC_FAN"
      • M=07h
      • Nominal Reading=49h (550 RPM)
      • Normal Minimum=43h (500 RPM)
      • Lower critical = 2Fh (350 RPM)
      • Lower non-critical = 35h (400 RPM)

The values of fan 4 were set to nearly 0 to test if the critical alert will go away, but it didn't. Sometimes fan 4 reports a valid RPM value of 400 RPM and status gets to normal. The fans are spinning in a slow mode so that the whole system is very quiet :-).

Questions:

  • are the fan readings influenced by some other values directly or indirectly in the SDR file, for example "Domain/Profile Dependent RECORDS" or the curves?
  • can the fan readings be fixed somehow?

A bit history: the chassis that I bought came with 3 3-pin-only-fans, that spinned up to 100%. The cpu fan was always a 4-pin fan. Before I changed the numbers in the SDR file the 3 chassis fans got a valid rpm read, but the cpu fan did not. After setting the values in the SDR file, the cpu got also a valid RPM value, but the chassis fans were spinning at 100%. I decided to exchange two of the chassis fan through 4-pin fans. The third chassis fan is disabled now. After placing the new fans in, all rpm values were set to 0 RPM and the status became critical although all fans are actually spinning. and the max rpm values are the same as before After that I lowered the critical values for the chassis fans but without any success.

RAID module RMS25JB080 ESXi drivers

Hi

cant find the VMWare ESXi drivers for the RMS25JB080 RAID module? (it will be in an S1200SPOR board which is fully VMWare supported)

Ive had some real major issues with ALL RAID board with ESXi, the only way to get them to fully work is to install the below:

RAID drivers, AND the SMIS drivers, with both install the module will show up in the ESXi vSphere console with what drive is attached to which connector on the board.

Also should allow for the Intel RAID configuration tool to connect to the board when its running ESXi to configure it, check drive status via the ESXi management IP address.  This has been a MAJOR MAJOR issue for LSI / AVAGO / BROADCOM (what ever there calling themselves now-a-days) RAID cards, i have the drivers here for them now so i dont need to go hunting for them.

However i have never done ESXi for Intel RAID cards yet (as there not really LSI / AVAGO / BROADCOM cards now... there a hybrid version.

Many Thanks.

Hi,

I would simply like to know if it is possible to Install an OS on an Intel S2600CW motherboard's M.2/NGFF slot's drive. If it is, what options do I need to enable in the BIOS for the OS installation to see the drive as an installation destination?

S5520HC EFI Optimized Boot

Hi,

I have difficulties with EFI Boot.

Long story short:

Having BIOS revision R0064 I'm trying to boot OS V 10.11 El Capitan.

The process is trail/error, so I need an easy way to change the BIOS Boot mode between MBR/EFI.

It is because I'm not sure I have proper disk for EFI boot, although I've got an OS X 10.11 installed on the machine and it doesn't boot in MBR mode, but if I set EFI Optimized Boot and try to boot my installation I don't have an success. The error code is 0xD6 - Trying boot selection.

The worst thing is I don't have an access to the BIOS Set Up at all so, I have to recover or update the BIOS to get the system working.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Intel S5520hc fans are always running full speed

Im standing with a server, with the Intel S5520hc board. And whenever i turn it on, the fans start spinning at full speed. It takes about 10 seconds, before the fans kick in, and after that they never slow down again.
The first thing we did was to go in under the bios, and change the advanced, System Acoustics and Performance Configuration, Set Throttling Mode from CLTT to OLTT. But whenever it restarts it just changes back. We tried updating the

FRUDSR, tried updating the bios to the newest version, tried unplugging and plugging back in the fan pins. None of it helped, we checked with SEL for any failures. Attached is the .sel file we get from the server, removed previous dates. All we could see was that it looped the same 3 messages for each of the 3 fans.

Informational event: System Fan 1 reports the sensor is no longer in a critically low state.  Sensor reading: Unspecified.  Threshold value: Unspecified.

Warning event: System Fan 1 reports the sensor is in a low, but non-critical, and going lower state.  Sensor reading: 0.000000 RPM.  Threshold value: 380.000000 RPM.

CRITICAL event: System Fan 1 reports the sensor is in a low, critical, and going lower state.  Sensor reading: 0.000000 RPM.  Threshold value: 320.000000 RPM.

S2600CP very loud fan

I have Intel Server Board S2600CP in Intel Server Chassis P4000S with 5 fan coolers. Server two year worked correctly. But, one weak ago, 5 fan coolers started working too fast and too load. Installed one processor - Xeon E5-2603, and her temperature about 30 C.

I upgrade BIOS on last firmware: BIOS - 02.06.0005, ME - 02.01.07.328, BMC - 01.27.9958, FRUSDR - 1.11. During upgrade i set Chassis serial number, Chassis part number, System serial number and System part number correctly.

In BIOS settings set parameters: Set Throttling Mode - [Auto], Altitude -[300m or less], Set Fan Profile - [Acoustic]. For tests i set various parameters in BIOS, but 5 fan coolers worked very fast and very load all time.

Ask me please, how to diagnostic and correctly configure my server.

Thanks.

S1200SPL (DBS1200SPL) - Questions about technical specifications

Hi,

I hope I'm posting my questions in the right location, I am about to purchase a couple of S1200SPL (DBS1200SPL) boards.

Curiously these are the only motherboards on the entire market that fit absolutely every single hardware criterion I have - unfortunately I was unable to find some technical details about this model, I already checked the following pages:

Intel® Server Board S1200SPL

1) Does this motherboard support the Core i3-6100 CPU? I was only able to locate i3-6300T and i3-6320 on the lists but it would be rather strange if the UEFI of a motherboard by the CPU's manufacturer itself would only support select 6th-generation Core i3 CPUs (that are in the same TDP class).

2) Some of the motherboards are to be used in workstation systems that are not running 24/7, does the UEFI support:

a) S3 - Suspend to RAM

b) S4 - Hibernate

c) "Deep Sleep" in S4+S5, also known as "EuP/ErP ready"

3) Since the model seems to be EOL - are there any details about a sucessor that also supports Kaby Lake CPUs?

Thank you very much for your help!

Bricked S2600G(L/Z)?

Hi Guys,

So i was trying to upgrade firmware on my server.

I ran flashupdt -u  <package folder name>\flashupdt.cfg and went away when it was "Upgrading HBSP and PSU firmware..."

After i came back the server was running - fans were spinning but no signal on the screen. I left it running for couple of minutes but there was no change so i rebooted the server - it didn't come back.

System Status LED is solid Amber and 2nd,3rd green POST LED is on which means: 06h Early CPU initialisation during Sec Phase. and it stays like that forever.

I tried to swap CPUs, run with only one CPU (both CPUs tested) and the error is always the same.

Then i tried to flash using BIOS Recovery Procedure and i'm getting 1st,4th green LED on and 1st,2nd,3rd,4th Amber LED ON with 2 Beeps and 4 Beeps in the background.

I also tried different CPU configuration and nothing helps.

The only difference i see (i think so) is when i have USB drive inserted and not inserted.

When there's no USB Mass Storage beeps happens so quickly as described in the manual but when i insert the USB there's 1 second break between each set of beeps. Maybe i'm doing something wrong?

Does it means i bricked motherboard?
