Hello we have a server running for a school but we have a big problem. We wanted to Upgrade from Windows 2008 64 bits enterprise to Windows Windows 2008 64 bits R2 following the next tutorial:
https://www.pluralsight.com/blog/tutorials/windows-server-2008-r2-install
And no problem at all to install very easy to do the upgrade following that tutorial. Now the Hard drive where the upgrade was made is 2.7 TB in GPT mode. Of course we were running the old Windows 2008 in the GPT mode hard drive since so long and of course booting in UEFI mode with our supermicro mainboard X9DRH-7F.
Now all was fine until the update the update like I mentioned before finished perfectly but once finished never booted again we just see the EFI shell but we don´t know what to do there to make run again or boot again because we checked and the partitions are there let me explain how we know that.
This mainboard of supermicro is very good because allows you to create and select your own boot mode. For example you can create a boot mode and point to the BOOTX64.EFI in the hard drive and we were working like that but now after install the R2 and reboot the machine in the BIOS if we select or create a boot mode pointing again to the BOOTX64.EFI nothing happens and supermicro mainboard not detect and always boot in the EFI shell. That is we know all is there because bia the BIOS when we are creating a new boot option and point there the files of BOOTX64.EFI exist
How can we fix the boot again our server went out of production and we are in a big trouble with people trying to enter.
Thank you
